Help Me Get Through This Day!

20mo dcg is a slime fest today. It's perpetual mucous, running out of her nose, sneezing, coughing, fingers in the mouth, slime and drool. All. over. the. place.

I have an exclusion for excessive mucous, except that this child has been like this all winter. She would have to find other care if I followed this particular rule for excessive mucous.

What do I do? I became extremely nauseus and almost threw up a few minutes ago when I saw her wipe a glob of mucous all over my sons favorite book, then paint with it everywhere.

Since terming for snot is not an option, and sending her home wont resolve the issue, what can I do? How can I stop this from getting all over my home? She already got my couch today

LOTS of bibs ( I prefer those over the head, dish towel type bibs for this purpose) and lots of clean clothes to change her into as needed.

That is all I got. I have had kids before that are simply "wet" kids. No colds, no underlying issues, just wet. ALL THE TIME.

I had one that went through 3-4 dishtowel bibs and 3-4 shirt changes daily before she finally out grew it.

I used the bib as sort of an "attached" tissue and wipe their face as needed every time it's needed.

Yes, it is a lot of chasing after but what else do you do? kwim?

I LOVE that idea! Any particular brands you can recommend, or places that I can purchase them? I have an idea of what you are talking about but not sure where I can find them.

All mine were made by my MIL. I know you can buy them, but I don't know where either.... sorry.

I know Cradle2crayons does ALOT of sewing if you wanted to contact her...just a thought.

I'd like to say they are super simple to make but I do NOT sew, so I can't venture to say that for sure...

I like that idea too. I need to store that away. I have a "slimey" one but only when he cries...which granted is about 27 times a day for various things. He drools, gushes tears (my kids rarely have tears when they cry...), oozes snot...it's awful. And then he puts his hands in his mouth and al over his face.... (barf)

You could make your own "dish towel" bibs cheaper than you could buy them ready made I bet. Buy dish towels, fold over on one end, cut a circle out, sew on a stretchy binding-type stuff, voila!

here's a pattern: http://www.howdoesshe.com/the-bib-of...-bib-tutorial/ though I would do the cut-out more at the end of the towel rather than in the middle, but that's just me.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I had a dck live in those things until he was 3. It was AWFUL. Still a drooler, too. (at almost 4).

They sell them at walmart, a few dollars each. I don't even own a sewing machine.

Here is the pattern I use to make these.... Very simple... I can churn out quite a few... But if you don't sew....

I'd have your dck parents purchase at least five of them... And send them to daycare to stay....

They will make your life so much easier

Heres a six pack on amazon . http://www.amazon.com/Gumby-Baby-Ter...+the+head+bibs

I make these too. I use a cd as a template for the head hole and sew a 13" strip around the hole.

Eta: I just looked at that tutorial and I do make the hole more to one end. We don't get much mess down the back. That way it sort of sits on their lap when they're seated, catching falling debris.

I have one that drools all the time. He wears a bib all day because like your snot story, this little guy does the same with his spit. The bibs help a lot and believe it or not, catch most of the stuff that comes out...
