Monday the heat did not work for the entire building. The kids arrived, we promptly sent them home one we realized that the HVAC guys could not resolve the issue within the 25 minutes we have of leeway to get the temperature to start coming up. Meanwhile, the rest of us sat in the cold building while the gentlemen worked. Heat finally came on around noon.
Tuesday, heat is on when we came in, but we're noticing that it is still a bit nippy. Check the temp: 68 degrees. Not cold enough to close but barely warm enough for us to be open. Literally, 68 is the cut-off. My office, in the back, is ALWAYS 10-15 degrees colder than the rest of the building so I didn't even attempt to do any admin work the past two days. Instead, I did the teacher evaluations in the classrooms, covered lunches, and audited the children's files in the front office. No place was warm but we powered through it, thinking it may take a building this large some time to come up to temp. Plus, it's -30 outside, so that doesn't help...
Today my optimism with the situation ran out. I have no other work to do outside of my office and it is literally 47 degrees in here. This is a slight improvement from 45 when I came in, and I attribute that to the sun because all I feel coming from the vents is "air conditioner" cold air. My fingertips are blue, I'm rocking my winter court, and I have one of the infant room blankets draped across my lap. I am so sad. Is it too much to ask? Can I please be warm????
