    Tools to Make Sensory Table?

This weekend I am going to get this table from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00095036/ and cut holes in the too and drop in Rubbermaid containers for a sensory table.

I have very little "construction" experience and am wondering if anyone has a suggestion as to what type of saw I will need to cut the holes in it.

Also....some good ideas of what to fill it with that won't be a choking hazard?

    Thanks in advance

I have no idea what kind of saw you would use, but I have some sensory ideas.

    I have used:

Shredded paper from my paper shredder
    Oatmeal
    Pasta
    Snow
    Water w/ or w/o soap
Huge ice blocks (I made them in tuppeware)
    Pudding
Magazines (so they can tear them)
    Sea shells
    Rice
    Jello
    Fake flowers
    The possibilities are endless!

I usually try to put something in there that has to do with our theme of the week.

I usually give the kids big cooking spoons, measuring cups, nut crackers (the kind that look like tweezers, measuring spoons, etc... for them to measure, pour, etc...

I have some of those tables, you'd probably need a jig saw.
Since you put them together yourself, you may be able to not put the top on, and just screw rubbermaid containers to the middle shelf, if that makes sense, and use the extra leg lengths to screw the sides of the container to, to make it more stable? Then you could even use the table top to put on top of the whole thing when it's not in use. Also wouldn't require any sawing, only drilling
