    Late Mom

15 min late but was parked outside my house the entire time. Then rushes in and says sorry I HAD to go talk to so and so (my neighbor who is her boss and also a client). Well my son has a match at 6pm and I should have already been gone. I close at 5:30. Even though I know I said it pretty passively.

They work fast food...spent all day together...talk to her on your own time! What's worse is the restaurant is literally a minute drive from my house.

How old is the child? I have been known to have them dressed and carrying their belongings, and walking towards the car - with me watching from the porch. I can't stand parents doing this!

If the child isn't old enough for the above, I'd text her WHILE SHE'S ON THE PHONE and say "Baby is ready to go. She's waving to you through the window!"

I'd be tempted to DOUBLE my late fees for sitting in my driveway and still being late!!!!!

I think I would have bundled the kid up and walked them out to the car after the first 5 min. and still hit them with a late fee.

I have a DCD who does this, he works out of his car (saleman) but if you pull up to my house you need to be ready to come in and get your child!!

Ugh, I have a "talker". My one dcm isn't ever late, but she will get here and stay in her car and talk and talk, then sometimes she comes in and is still talking! Then sometimes she has to tell me how she's sorry, but she makes $50 an hour doing some kind of talking on the phone (they never have money so I don't know what she does for $50 an hour) so she had to talk. It drives me nuts!

If she was ever late and talking in my driveway, I would have done what Lucy said and would have had dcb's coat and shoes on and would have taken him out to the car!

she doesn't have a phone. And actually went over to my neighbors house so she was inside. Its happening a little more frequently as time goes on. Just being late in general. She gets up late then of course has to work late to make up the time...or one day I think she took an hour lunch so all of a sudden had to work until 6 which meant she of course didn't pick up until 6:20.

I would have walked right out to the car, motioned for them to unlock the door, handled the child to them and went about my business. I have done it before and would do it again. I will knock rudely on the window or whatever it takes.

I would have gone out to the car and told her I had to leave and here is her child. I would also have told her not to do that again. Of course, since she already did it she would have gotten a late fee.

Um, late is late. If your child is NOT in your hands by the time the daycare closes, you are late.

NOTHING complicated about that at all.

I don't care if she is at the neighbors talking on the phone or sitting in her car.....daycare closes at xxx time.

If this mom can't pick up her child at the time she schedules...then charge her a HEFTY late fee or term.

Stop getting caught up I her "having" to work late based on her actions (long lunch, late clocking in etc).

                        NONE of that matters.

What matters is you are allowing this mother's poor time management to effect your business and your life (late to your child's activity).

Outright tell her "DCM, you MUST pick your child up IMMEDIATELY upon leaving work. If you need to go to the neighbor's then do it WITH your child. I expect you here at xx time and if you are not, I will charge you a late fee. If it continues, I WILL term."

Stop letting her dictate when you are on and off the clock.
