    Letter To Parents About Illness

How does this sound as a way to notify parents of norovirus exposure?

    Any input is appreciated.

Unfortunately ..........daycare has had exposure to the stomach flu. To prevent further infection, we will remain closed for the remainder of the week, using my sick days. Please make arrangements with your alternate childcare.

Although safety and sanitation are a very high priority, these things can happen. The next few days will be used to recuperated and deep clean the daycare. Below is a link to the CDC website for more information about this virus. The originating source is unknown, but we are committed to preventing further spread.

Sounds great but you need to change recuperated to recuperate.

Otherwise, it is direct, to the point and covers most areas parents would ask about (who started it, why are you closed, what will you do about it...)

Thanks. Do you think that is an appropriate amount of time to close? I am feeling better today, but I know I am still contagious.

Personally, I would only give myself a day to rest, recover, clean, sanitize and get my ducks in a row. But I am kind of Type-A so the amount of time you require really is up to you.

I would however, be super strict in who you allow back into care and who you don't when this stuff is going around so you don't just keep playing back and forth with this bug.

No "a little sick" or "not really sick" kind of stuff.

I really push families that staying home if they aren't 100% is BEST.

Seems like more than adequate time, esp. if you are still recuperating. I have a deep clean today as all I have is a preschooler as we had schools close here due to windchill again. happyface
