    It's WORKING!

knock on wood, not to jinx myself!

My group is challenging, but nap was a HUGE issue. I could NOT leave the nap room until everyone was sound asleep, and IF I left and someone woke up, they would wake friends, rummage through my ds's things, etc. until I heard and came to get them. I put my foot down last week (went potty and came back to 4 kids under ds's bed, 2 that had been asleep and were woken up!) that was it. I sleep trained my preschoolers. I started our regular routine and then did NOT sit down. I told them what I expected and left the room. I watched through a video monitor and went back in when they got up to put them back on mats. Last weeks nap times were NOT good. Multiple redirects, everyone had less rest and lots less sleep.

Yesterday was way better, had to redirect one dcb 3 times.

Today it finally clicked. We read our books, I tucked in and sang the goodnight song. I left the room and NOBODY MOVED. They are ALL asleep! This hasn't happened in almost a year. happyface

      whoo hoooo!

Now, can you come teach my 6 1/2 mo to retrieve his own pacifier? Otherwise, he's being more awesome every day. He can play with it just fine when it's not nap time, but will NOT find it himself in bed.

Ha! I did that before Thanksgiving, and mom gave it back while on vacation.

He has made such HUGE strides the last few weeks, I'm giving him a little more time with this one. I decided that once he's 7 months (so, basically the week after next), he gets them thrown in his bed, and he can find them or not.

Nap time today, he went to sleep, then woke up 45 minutes later. I gave him 5 minutes, then retrieved the pacifier. Went back to sleep for an hour, then I tried waiting. 15 minutes later, he was HYSTERICAL, and laying ON the pacifier. Put it back in his mouth...zonk!

But, on the other hand, he goes back to sleep and sleeps all of nap time, and when he's awake, he is so jolly, compared to even 2 weeks ago, when he was a crank machine ALL THE TIME. I'll take a few pluggings over that any day. ::

It's great isn't it? I've been blessed with great nappers for quite awhile now and I'm loving it.
