3rd Shift - Where Do They Sleep?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have 4 kiddos myself and can only take on 2 more. I really want to make the most of the time, and want to do 2 full time during the day (or 1 PT 1 FT) and then do 3rd shift as well. 3rd shift is VERY hard to find in this city, and I know I could make a good amount more than normal doing 3rd shift.

Where do 3rd shift kiddos sleep? Separate from your other kiddos? In a living room? Or playroom? Do they sleep on cots? Or beds?

Because of the age of my kiddos, I can ONLY take children ages 2.5-5 (no young ones under 2). So that does help when narrowing down how I would do sleeping arrangements. Not sure where to put them so that they don't feel all alone/scared, but are still going to go to sleep. I have 4 month old twins, so I get up quite often throughout the night to check on my own kids, and would do the same for daycare kids.

I would do cots in the playroom. You would want them down by 7 or 8 depending on their age and putting them anywhere else would mean either your kids will have to share a room with other kids they dont even know or you wont be able to use your living room in the evening. I bet 90% of these kids will have their own room at home so sleeping alone should not be an issue. You are already checking on them multiple times a night which is probably more than their parents do for them anyway. The playroom sounds perfectly fine. I would make sure you can darken the room and provide some white noise and make sure the potty trained ones know how to use the bathroom in emergency so they can get to it without coming to find you multiple times a night.

We are lucky in that our playroom has an attached bathroom (we used the master bedroom in our house for the playroom). I just worry about the kids wanting to play with toys instead of go to bed..

There are darkening shades already in there, and I can have cots and a white noise machine or fan for them as well.

I would check licensing regs to see if you can have kids sleep on cots overnight, I think there is something in there that says they have to be on a mattress. If I find it, I'll let you know. I could be wrong.

We have under two sleep in my room in a pnp and over ywo sleep in the playroom with a sleeping bag as our regs that is all we have to use. Depending on age we lay them down about 830 or 9.

This is what I found... so for toddlers ages 2+, I'm going to need mattresses for them to sleep on. Maybe I'll make two crib daybeds for the playroom. They can act as couches/daybeds by day, and for sleep at night. I'm wondering how picky they will be.

I'm legally unlicensed and I do first, second, and third shift depending on days and parent shifts.

My daycare kiddos sleep in the playroom which is an extra bedroom. They sleep on mats but those super duper thick mats. If they are overnight and under two they sleep in a pack and play same as for nap time.

I would check with licensing but perhaps cots would be considered appropriate beds. If not, I wonder if they would allow crib/toddler mattresses on the floor. Then you can just pull those out. Daybeds is going to take up a lot of space.....the other option is for a daybed and a trundle so at least it wouldnt be too separate furniture pieces.
