2 Week Trial - Not Sure If It's Going To Work. Help Me Decide Please!

Has anyone not continued after the trial because the child disrupts nap? I have a new VERY busy boy that is keep the kids up from 30-45m every day. I do not have anywhere else to put him so that is not an option - the kids all nap together. I haven't had a problem until this child besides maybe 5-10minutes here and there.

He is also into play fighting, shooting, etc. all day. I don't allow this type of play and so far after 5 days of reminding him this over and over I haven't seen much improvement. He is constantly poking kids or play hitting. He just turned 3 years old.

I'm trying to decide if this maybe isn't a good fit or if I need to give it more time after the trial. My other kids here are more calm and it seems to be creating monsters out of them....LOL

I have one more week to decide.

I am noticing many behavior problems with some of the other kids this week trying to get my attention like his is.

What do you guy think?? Nap in it's self by next Wed. may be a deal breaker. I need my nap time (I do my homework (preschool credential), curriculum planning, lunch, some down time for me).

I wouldn't take him. The nap might be able to be worked through, but with the play fighting and inciting the others, nope.

Yes. I had a little guy that was a HORRIBLE disruption at nap time.

He had the ability to probably fit in and be a great kid, but mom kept telling me how she was letting him get up at 2, 3 and 4 a.m. when he wanted to play so the napping and sleeping was a mess at their house.

On the second to the last day of the two week trial period mom had told me they were up from 2:30-4:30 playing "just because he wanted to" and I KNEW it was not going to get better if mom was allowing that.

I ended up terming that night and mom flipped. She thought since he had made it so far into the two week trial period, all was well.

She wrote me a nasty e-mail, telling me how unprofessional I was and how mean etc etc etc....
She called my licensor and complained about how I refused to continue working with her ( ) and blah blah.

I found out later, I was the poor kids' 5th daycare in a year because of the same issues.

So, yes...in reply to your question; I have termed during the trial period ALL due to the kid being a poor napper.

I couldn't let one child disrupt everyone else's routine.

It HAS to work for the group as a whole or it just doesn't work.

You COULD extend the trial (I have done this and it worked out great, kiddo took 3 weeks to settle in and is now fine), and mention your concerns if you think it MIGHT work and the parents MIGHT be willing to work with you, just to exhaust all efforts.

Otherwise, I wouldn't continue. I NEED nap time, too.

Better with nap today. I sat right next to him as soon as nap started and I heard him say "Aww man!" and layed down. (Before I was just near him) We shall see on Monday if this is a fluke.

He fell asleep after 5 minutes. If he wakes up early we shall see. He has always stayed asleep since it had taken so long to fall asleep before.

The daytime behavior with play fighting will need to lessen too but I may extend one more week for that if the naps are going better.

          Thanks for help!!
