I have a dcb who is 3yo. He completely potty trained in October, and was accident free from then until about 3 weeks ago. Now he has 2-3 accidents a day, even with constant reminders about going to the potty. One afternoon the accident was while sitting on my couch reading a book. I've considered asking the parents to start bringing enough pull ups for him to wear during the day until he can prove he will be accident free again, as it stands they only bring 1 a day for nap time, and I do not think they'll be too thrilled about this request as they feel pull ups "enable" him to continue accidents. WWYD?

well you either have the parents bring pullups, you provide pullups or you let him pee all over your house. you have to pick one of those options. i know potty training is a big source of conflict with parents so we sympathize!- Flag

3 weeks ago coincides with Christmas and New Year time off. Not coincidental, imho. I have a dcb doing the same thing, and regressed in the same time frame. I broached it to dcm the week he came back and referred her back to my potty training policy. More than one accident/day and I require pull ups until they are dry for two weeks. Mom essentially admitted to being lax with all of the things she had going on during the holidays.- Flag

I have a very smart "toot" of a 3yo dcg who had been potty trained for about 5 months and she had a week of having accidents. She was doing it on purpose though! Like when she didn't like what we were having for lunch (which if often), sitting in time out etc. I made her completely responsible for the clean up and she lost all big kid activities, and I planned some extra fun ones during this time. Thankfully it only lasted that week.- Flag

I do find that a few months after potty training has been mastered, most of my kids have a bit of a regression. In your case it is just coming off the holidays and their craziness.
I keep some pull ups on hand for these times. It usually short lived so it's not costly, and it takes the issue out of the parents hands - I don't have to deal with passive aggressive "forgetting" of the pull ups or send a child away at the door. I don't know why, but I find that when a child is fully and truly potty trained they don't want to go in the pull up.- Flag

Your house = your rules. Unless you want to continue having urine all over randomly, I wouldn't ask for pull-up but REQUIRE them.
Often times kids are totally trained at home but not necessarily at daycare.
It's just the way it is...two totally different environments = two totally different behaviors.
They can manage theirs and you are in charge of yours.- Flag

This was happening here too. After a dcg peed in her pants 3 times in one day I told her she didn't have any more clean clothes and I had to put her in a pull up. She did not like it. She has not had an accident (here or at home) since.
In the past I would have never done that, didn't want to make the parents mad, the kid might like being in a pull up etc. But why should I have to deal with the mess? After reading ideas on this board and hanging out with other providers in town my back bone has grown.
From now on my policy is: lazy potty accident=pulls ups. I don't care how old they are.- Flag

My daughter will be 3 in March and has been completely potty trained for about 6 months (besides night time) and the past few weeks she has been peeing her pants 3-5 times a day. We've tried telling her how sad it makes us, getting upset with her, taking away toys, talking to her, etc. Nothing has helped yet- Flag

Thank you for all of your input! Fortunately the dcp's are working with me to promote no accidents, and so far we've been accident free today.- Flag
