How Long Do You Wait To Term During Trial?

Do you usually wait till the full time (like mine is 2 weeks) or do you find yourself terming 3-4 days in if it's not working?

Do you give the younger kids the full trial period to adjust? Or if they are disrupting your group and vibe do you term sooner?

I know every situation is different - but on average

I reserve the right to term whenever necessary. I did term one kid after the first day. most violent toddler i have ever seen. it was actually a half day. mom had been thru a few daycares and ended up staying home with her child (i saw her at a restaurant a few months later)

      Depends on why I'm terming.

If I term due to negative behaviors (screaming all day, high needs, aggressive or violent behavior) then it is IMMEDIATELY.

If it is for a situation that just doesn't feel right or seem to be the right fit, then I'll wait until the end of the two weeks but I tell/notify the parent asap so they can make arrangements for care after the two weeks.

I've never had to term during a trial; however, I am very open and honest with families that if X behavior doesn't improve, then we will not be a good fit and I will not be able to continue to provide care.

I wouldn't feel the need to wait out the entire trial period before terming, if I really felt it wasn't going to work.

Also depends here. I termed one infant (4 mo)day 3 because she screamed the entire 3 days. Same kiddo flunked two more daycares and a nanny. Mom ended up taking a year off.

With behavioral issues, I think I'd be better off terming sooner than later. Last time, I made it a whole year, and then termed. It was a lot harder than if I would have said "no way" after the first day they were here, and refused to clean up anything after they had thrown every single toy out of my play kitchen all over (they were 3 and 4). The next year was so bad, I'm surprised I still have hair, but I was stubborn...thought I could "fix" them. NOPE!
