Part-timers, short term care, etc and Consistancy

I am a military provider; therefore, my current infant who has been here six months is the longest full-time child I have had (not including my own two). Reason people leave are PCS, getting into the CDC (which is cheaper the FCC), or it was a temporary thing. Sometimes I know it is a few months, sometimes I don't. Do make up the gaps I do a lot of regular part-time care, mostly for SAHPs who want their children to have interaction with others. A lot of these kids I have watched longer, but with it only being five hours a week, it takes me a long time to train them.

I read a lot of books and online articles, but nothing really jumps out with having consistency with part-timers and temporary's. I feel like I am changing my program every few months. Any advice?

    Wow, that's gotta be tough.

I just think you have to be pretty laid back and easy going to be able to manage that without driving yourself crazy.

I would focus on play based learning and just try to have a loose schedule that is easy for anyone to fall into regardless of how often or how little a child attends.

Sorry, that wasn't much advice but that's all I got. I live by my daily routine so I couldn't imagine integrating part timers so often.

Kudos to you for doing what you do!!

I can't imagine that you can do anything more than survival from day to day. Just like a gym daycare, they just keep the kids busy, there is no firm structure or curriculum or anything because you are constantly working on behavior management. I have no suggestions for you but to lower your expectations. As long as everyone is safe and clean and fed, I would call that a success.

I am having a hard time reading your post. What is PCS, CDC, FCC (family child care?) and SAHP's (stay at home parents?). Please let me know ASAP if you KWIM? ::

Haha, got to love military and our acronym's!

          FCC - family child care
PCS - permanent duty stations aka move
CDC - child development center aka on base child care facility
SAHP's - Stay at home parents

I'm sure there is more I can come up with. 1181's, TDYs, AFRC......

Anyway, most of the response I have received, is unfortunately correct. While I use the Creative Curriculum, it is very play based and I am on survival mode, which is not a mode I want to be in. I love the tips I get on here but a lot do not apply because children don't have time to learn them. booo, this is more of a vent I guess.
