When a Broken Toy is Conveniently Blamed on Younger Sibiling

who also happens to be across the room, and have been there for several minutes, when the broken toy is "discovered" by the older sibling.

When the story is a bit too conveniently removing the older sibling from any possible blame.

When the older sibling's story is suspiciously mixed up and unclear and he repeatedly says, "Well I didn't actually SEE (sibling) do it..." and "I know he was standing there and he pulled on it really hard and it broke."

and when you say, "You know what? I don't think (sibling) did it. I think you were pulling on it and broke it. What do you think?" and he says, "Yeah, I think that's what happened." and "How hard did you have to pull until it broke?" "VERY hard."

What do you think....did the younger sibling break the wooden bowl, or did the older sibling?

Sounds like one of my dcks! He is 3 and no matter who does it, even if it wasn't him, he will blame it on the 23 month old boy. On Friday I saw him kick another child. I went to intervene and he comes to me actually crying, saying that the 23 month old kicked him! The little boy was in his booster seat at the table.

yeah, that's what i was thinking. You're FIVE, child, what gives?!

the younger one isn't destructive so, I was suspicious. Then the "Well I didn't actually SEE him do it...." combined with the detailed description of how it happened...yeah....

Ugh, probably what works at home with his parents. I had a DCB 5-6 after school (1/2 day Kindy) and that's the kinda stuff he'd do. Blame his 3yr old cousin for it which works at home! Didn't work here though. Glad he's gone!!

Older child and we would be having a very serious talk about lying.
