    Just Had to Share...

Two weeks ago, one of my DCKs, a 1 year old, had a massive seizure on his last day before he left on his Christmas vacation. He had a fever of 101 and DCM was already on her way to pick up. All of a sudden he started drooling and shivering. As soon as I realized he was having a seizure, I called 911. The ambulance arrived within 3 minutes of my call and he was taken to the ER. The seizure ended up lasting more than 30 minutes and his temp sky-rocked to 106 at the hospital! He was flown to Children's Hospital. I had been worried sick but DCM kept me updated via texts. Doctors told her that I was quick to recognize the seizure and that I did everything I could.

Turned out that he had roseola. The sudden high fever caused the seizure and he broke out in the rash after the fever broke. The doctors concluded that it was an atypical febrile seizure because of how long it lasted. Doctors prescribed a med to give to DCK if he has any other seizures that last more than 5 minutes in the future. DCM says DCK has been back to his back to his normal, ornery self once they got back home. PTL.

DCK has been gone for vacation the last two weeks and tonight DCM dropped off a Christmas card. She wrote a heart-felt letter of gratitude that made me tear up. Along with it was a $100 gift card and a certificate for a 60 minute massage!

DCM is an awesome client. She always pays on time with autopay. She always picks up on time or makes arrangements for DCK to be picked up on time if she is running late. She is always appreciative of what I do, follows my policies to the T and has written a really nice reference on my FB page. DCK is a great kid and a real pleasure to care for. I'm so thankful to have them as clients. And super happy that DCK turned out okay.

I've never witnessed a seizure so am not sure I would've reacted the same, especially if I knew dcm was already coming. Wow, you are amazing and dcm is very lucky to have you!!
I'm glad dcb is okay, thanks to you.

How terrifying! Hope that it was a fluke and it doesn't happen again. So nice that dcm did that.

Thank God everything turned out okay and that you were so quick to recognize what was going on!

And how sweet of DCM to show how much she appreciates you. That is so important for us DPs. An hour massage and a 100$ gift card too! Pamper yourself! You deserve it
