    What to do.....

I currently have three family's that attend here. I am losing two this month. One family last day is today. Family one- dad rec'd a promotion and has changed to night shift. Those kids will be changing to drop in. Family two- mom is moving and will have to travel more to continue bringing the kids here, so she is finding another childcare. I really rely on this income. I have had a lot of calls and promises to have new families to replace them. I have had 4 tours and no call backs. I had one tour yesterday, but no call no show. Unsure what to do.

If you want to continue this business you may need to find a way to supplement income for these situations. I work 8-13 hours per week at night for this and since I am full am just throwing it into a vacation fund. Win-win. I hope you figure something out quickly before you stress out about this.

I have actually thought about working part time after i close. My husband isn't really to keen on me working after daycare since I open at 5:30am and close at 7pm. I had one call back this morning and they are starting January 7th. I am doing my best not to stress about this, since I don't do well under stress. Thanks for the hug, I really needed it.

It may be time to have one of your CCR&R Reps to come do a walk through and maybe give you some ideas as to how parents are viewing your place as first impression.

Don't take that as judgement.... we all need an unbiased opinion from time to time.

When I first started I was all nature trails, creeks, tree houses, mud, climbers, tire swings and joy. When the calls and enrollments slowed I asked for a walk through...

Turns out this newer generation is afraid of all things "dirty and dangerous".

I tossed up some fences, bought trendy/obnoxious curriculum's, made "bubble boy" EPA suits (only partially kidding) and BAM.... Instant 2 year wait list.

 Things will get better.... change is inevitable.... Even if we don't like it.
        - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

Do you need to be open from 5:30am-7pm? Is it possible to open from 5:30a-5:30pm or even 7am-5:30pm? That might make a part time job easier.

Yes I need to open the hours. I have drop offs that practically waiting at 5:30am and my last pickup shows up about 5 minutes to 7. I have had the hours since I opened. I also increased my day to include weekend due to two family working weekends.

And I am old fashion, no sitting in front of tv, tons of outdoor time when weather permits, daily activities, pre-k prep, and very strict schedules. I guess that to OCD for some people. I figured parents now a days don't care what their kids do during the day as long as they don't have to deal.
