    How Do You Feel

When parents visit your dc and just leave in 1 minute without an explanation?

Place is neat and clean, kids having fun doing artwork, price is fairly reasonable.

    Very puzzled. Share your story.

I haven't had them do that- but I would rather them leave quickly if it's not a good fit (for any reason) than to spend an hour asking questions and such just to find out afterward (or at the end of the interview) that the hours don't work, or that they are pregnant and you don't take infants, or that they really don't want you to transport, or that they really want a center...

Yeah I think I'd rather them not waste my time! I had two families in one week both come by for an interview and then ask to come back a 2nd time, one left right away (which is fine... It would have been a lot of work with little commitment) and the other stayed with her sons for like an hour only to not call me back or even let me know?! Ugh! Why waste all that time??

If it were to happen to me, I'd feel the same as the others. I'd also feel a little relieved. I really do not like being observed while I work!

I can see why you might feel a little puzzled, though. It is strange that parents would leave without saying something to you. Maybe they didn't want to disrupt you any more than they already had and figured they'd follow up with you later? If you still haven't heard from them, though, I guess the only way you'll know for sure is if you follow up with them.

            It is weird, but perhaps...
I watched a family of three little girls for over two years. One day, I got a new family, a little boy and a K girl. When the girls' mother picked up, she seemed a little startled. Later that evening I got a phone call basically telling me I either dropped the new family, or they were not coming back. I told her she could come pick up her things, and I would not welcome her or her children again.
Her problem?? The two new children were African American.
Perhaps they saw something they were not comfortable with, but were too embarrassed (as it should be) to say something??
