    How to Handle ...

I took New Year's Eve and New Year's Day as paid holidays this year. One of my families is taking vacation so they won't be coming anyway.
The other family I normally only have Monday-Wednesday so they are only supposed to come today (Monday).
Well, DCM from family #1 was talking about setting up a play date with DCM #2 on facebook.
DCM #2 said "Oh well johnny will be at Ms. K's house Monday and Tuesday ..."

I give out a sheet with a list of paid holidays for the year usually around Christmas so she has known for over a year.

My question is, since she never said anything to me personally and I only saw it on FB, should I confront her? I don't want her showing up tomorrow morning.

    How would you handle this?

I would send her a message saying Hey, I saw on FB that Johnny was going to be at my house Mon and Tues. I am sure when you posted you forgot Tues is New Years Eve and I am off. I just wanted to be sure you realized! Thanks!

Maybe just put up a reminder that you are closed those two days.
I had a dcm give me her schedule and said dcb was coming on Wed. and I am closed. It turned out that she just forgot, maybe your dcm did too.

Sometimes clients goof and don't think about what day of the week a holiday falls on. They're so used to their routine that it just slips. I always post a reminder on my door at least two weeks in advance reminding them that I'll be closed and STILL verbally remind them a week and the day before. It's not too late to post a reminder today and verbally tell her. If she already dropped off today post a reminder and tell her when she picks up.
"Hi Susan. Johnnyhad a great day today. Just reminding you that I'm closed on Wednesday, its a paid holiday. I have his things ready for today. Happy New year since I won't see you again until next week!"

I just sent her a text, "I saw on Facebook that Johnny was coming Tuesday. I am closed Tuesday and Wednesday for the holiday."

That was over an hour ago and no response ...
I will also remind her when she picks up today.

I hate when these things happen and I know I am not wrong, but I have a feeling she will have an issue with it. We shall see...

This is one reason why I would have never friended parents on FB. I know things like that would have bothered me, so I'd just rather not know!

I would have just handed out a reminder at end of day today and also verbally said, 'see you XX, hope you all have a great New Year!'

I actually feel the same way you do about Facebook, but learned the hard way. Right now I only have 2 families and one of them was one of my first clients (before I knew better).
She became friends with the new DCM and then new DCM found me

I have one mom that repeatedly tries to drop off on unscheduled days and holidays. I have just gotten to the point where I lock my doors, put my phone on silent and turn on a fan in the corner so I can't hear her knocking ! I respond to her text when I wake up saying she must have forgotten but please refer to the yearly time off sheet to see my closings. She got the picture pretty quick but still after 6 months or so will give it another shot ::

Yes, her response was, "I thought you were open NYE??"
ME: "No. It was included in 2013 Paid holidays. I will be giving you an updated paid holidays form for 2014 when you pick up today."
                        DCM: "OK"

DCD ended up picking up DCB, and he was super nice, but I think she sent him because she was upset.

Oh well! I had a great NYE/NYD with my family!
