    First Kid With The Flu

One year old dck was fine yesterday, ate, played, happy as a bug. Apparently he woke up crying and cried most of the night. He has Type B flu. sigh I'm 99% sure that he had a flu shot, which make me worry that this strain wasn't included. Not what you want in daycare the week before Christmas.

This was us last year except it was A... In March we had B too! We didn't get flu shots though. It wasn't that bad to be honest, B is more mild than A. There's also several strains of A & B and only 3 of the anticipated worst are covered in the shot so it's only about 60% effective at best. If you start feeling sick there's Tamiflu and that's most effective when taken immediately after you get symptoms (or within 72hrs max) when someone else you have in your home has tested +. You could call your family dr and ask about it especially with the holiday approaching. Last year we had a horrible resp virus, then a 24hr stomach virus, then the flu A and then flu B 2 mos later!!

I just had a DCD call me yesterday to tell me his DD tested positive for the flu. I'm not sure if I should exclude her for the rest of the week or not...I sprayed Lysol on everything but really don't want my 3 kiddos to catch it before Christmas.
