    Dear Parent, Grow Some Balls

your kid fell asleep on the bus, no one knew he was on because he was slouched down and they had a substitude.

I've known about his sleeping for 2 weeks now, because he forgot his snow pants and his backpack on the bus and you were informed several times now about his sleeping on the bus (he's on for half hour)

and the reason he's falling asleep on the bus because he doesn't go to sleep till midnight because his parents don't want to deal with his screaming every night so instead of being the parent and turning off the tv and making his go to bed at 9pm they let him do whatever they want.

they are afraid of their child. Grow some balls and make your kid go to bed at a normal time.

well next time this happens he's being sent back to school on the bus and they can deal with the mom there. I'm now putting the problem back on them.

this child also has other issues but he rules the roast and they are afraid of him.

That happened to a kid here too only the bus driver didn't see him and parked the bus in the bus garage for the night. It wasn't until later that they found the kid asleep in there. It was winter in MT too!!

If the parents would just understand that children want rules and routine. After a few days of a bedtime routine the boy would come to expect it. For example: I have a dcg who carries her blanket everywhere (sometimes 2 blankets!) Her parents wouldn't dream of not having it at all times. Here she is in the habit of putting it in her bed as soon as she comes in. I don't have to remind her at all, she just does it. After a few days it is just a routine (and she is much happier not having to keep track of it.) Just as this boy would be much happier with a good nights sleep.

Obviously they do need to get him into a routine...it makes for a much happier and better behaved child but sleeping in the bus can happen to any little one.

Some kids are just prone to falling asleep in a moving vehicle. My DS is almost 5 and falls asleep every time we go for a drive somewhere. He is in bed at 7h30 and gets up at 7h00am so it isn't because he is lacking sleep. He is just bored I guess.

Buses can be very boring and some little ones can even feel a bit ill in them, prompting them to close their eyes and rest their heads. Then they fall asleep by accident. A 30 minute bus ride is long...poor thing.

      How old is he?

my own kids fall asleep too if they weren't busy playing ipods on the bus.

the problem is that he was fine and no sleeping until 2 weeks ago. Thats when I started asking what is going on, because he never fell asleep before and thats when I found out that he again has no bedtime routine. Oh he's 5 too.

I think it made me made because mom blamed, the busdriver, the kids on the bus, bus monitor and me for not realizing what had happened when its acually their fault for allowing this kind of behavior and not going to bed at a normal time.

My little one is giving me problems with sleeping in his room so most nights I cave and bring him in our bed with us, which stinks because then I usually fall asleep and get no "me" time! We are going to go get my husbands old twin bed from my mom and dad's and put both kids in one bedroom. Hoping it solves our problem. Mine takes a 2 hour nap though usually from 2-4 during the week when I wake him at 7:30. And he is only 2, our other son, who is in school is in his room at 8:30 each night. When we get the other bed in there so will the 2yo. If this was happening with my oldest I would never allow him to stay up til midnight on a school day. Poor kid. That is a very long day.

I would blame the bus monitor and drive as well. Its their job to get kids home so even if a kid is sleeping or hiding, they have to have policies about keeping track of kids. I dont see how it is your fault though....

Not saying that this kid wouldnt benefit from a bed time though!

I too would have blamed them too but this is going on for 2 weeks so its time for the parents to held accountable.
