    Greetings from the Future.............

Whew....just traveled back in time from January 1st, 2014, and let me tell you about all the craziness happening on the daycare forum.
    • There are a ton of appreciation threads (or lack thereof). Some of you will not receive a gift or even a thank you! Others will receive huge bonuses and wonderful sentimental gifts!
    • Some of you will spend a huge amount of time on crafty gifts for your daycare parents (from your daycare children). At times, these crafty gifts will be a major pinterest fail and now you are scrambling for something else.
    • Sure, everyone's busy, but it's fairly likely that a daycare parent or two will forget you're closed (despite about 1000 warnings) and come pounding at your door expecting you to watch their bundle of joy.
    • You just sent out contract renewals and everyone seemed fine with the updates, until they have to sign the dotted line. All of a sudden they can't handle the rate increase/hour change/late pick-up policy.
    • Little Johnny will show up in swimming trunks and flip flops ..... when it is 17* outside. It's ok, you have a heater, RIGHT?!
    • Daycare mom was late because she was "hung up at work" ........ on Christmas Eve. You help dck to the car to find a bunch of shopping bags . Apparently dcm now works at the mall ?

I just wanted to throw out some of the future threads! It's at this time we need to take a deep breath, relax, try to enjoy ourselves and let the little things roll off our shoulders. What's most important is not letting our work interfere with our family life and making it enjoyable for those who mean the most .

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the future

There will also be providers who get asked to watch dcks on New Years so the parents can sleep off their hangovers

How about a few New Year's resolution threads? This year, in my daycare, I plan to try/implement/do more/do less _______________.

Next year I play to get a Lamborghini. Is that too much to ask for? Oh, yeah, and work out and get healthier.

:: Well, you gotta have the obligatory "improve yourself" resolution (i.e. work out, diet, start yoga, read more literature, take a class etc.)

Then the "fantasy" resolution...the Lamborghini falls under this category.

Then you need the "fall back" resolution for when all of your other plans fail and you need something to say you've had success with...

Using these standards, here are my 3 resolutions.

1-personal improvement I'm going to lose that last 5 pounds that refuse to budge.
2-fantasy I want a newer house (130 year old houses are charming...as long as they are someone else's.)
3-the fall back I'm going to finish painting the bedroom.

This would be the perfect resolution for me. In order to get the first (Lamborghini), I'd have to work my a$$ off (and then some) so I wouldn't have to worry about the 2nd part :: Win-win, right
