Hello Everyone!
I haven't been here in a few months as things have been rather busy lately.
My home inspection is scheduled for this Friday & I am super nervous and excited! I'm just finishing up the final projects today & then I can rest, whew! My oldest daughter just moved back home, So I will need her to get her FBI fingerprints done for child abuse clearances & I need to finalize my enrollment forms & policy info. But I'm moving along
A few months back there was a thread on here about facebook pages that people used for their daycares. That got me motivated to start one of my own. I was wondering if anyone could please offer feedback, please? I'm a bit nervous about putting it out there because my set-up is 100% different than the ones I saw on here. They were so all great & colorful & really looked like a daycare. My house is much smaller & does not have that we are not using. So my business & family share all the rooms on the first floor of my home.
There are not tons of toys out at any given time, as you will see. But the children are engaged in activities on a continual basis. For example, I bring out the bin of puzzles, we play with them and then pack them away.
That being said, there are always a few puzzles, books, building materials, pretend play items (such as tool bench, doll sets, or kitchen set (all fully equipped) out and readily accessible. I rotate the "readily accessible" toys on a weekly basis & I'm in the process of creating theme weeks. Like last week was "play house" week. So I had a kitchen, shopping cart, check-out counter with play money, a cleaning cart and vacuum sitting out for the kids. This week is tool week. So I have two different tool benches with a rolling tool cart and a couple of build & take apart projects. This goes great with the mega block tool set that I also will bring out. I am working on adding more items to each theme & also increasing the number of themes. Next week is music, I have an amazing music table by anatex, maracas, a child sized guitar, a small drum set & a keyboard. Needless to say this is their favorite & my least favorite :
:
I guess I'm telling you this because I understand my set-up may look weak. I am working on improving the look. After the holidays we will hand a magnetic board & felt board in my living room (behind the couches so it can still be hidden after work). I also am working on "look what Jim made" signs to display their artwork in the living room. Hoping that will complete the look.
I hope to receive some constructive criticism & helpful tips from you all!
