How Have Daycare Parents Gone Above And Beyond For You

This is an offshoot of the other thread.

What extras have daycare parents done for you that went above and beyond what would be expected?

A daycare mom gathered all of my daycare kids while I was in the hospital and made a sweatshirt for me with all their handprints. I still have that sweatshirt 22 years later.

Another daycare mom took the day off of work, drove an hour to the hospital, sat and held my hand (not literally, but sat in the chemo room) for 4 hours while I had chemo infused, then took her kids home early.

I had a dcfamily continue to pay me for 4 months while dcd was laid off so they wouldn't lose their spot. I felt very flattered.

We also bought a car from a dcfamily and I worked it off in dc hours.

I had a dcd that worked for Pepperidge Farm and he would bring me boxes and boxes of their products.

I have a dcm who occasionally brings me a coffee in the morning, one who used to bring bread from a local bakery from time to time, and one who sometimes brought me a bottle of wine! LOL

Another family gave me a cash bonus right before we went on vacation one year!

I had a dcd that offered us the use of his Hallmark trailer anytime we need it too!

I have one dcp who brings me treats occasionally "just because".

Another dcm brought me some yummy specialty bread one morning.

When I worked in a center, one of the dcd's owned a glass shop and made us homemade ornaments. I have also received little appreciative things for teacher appreciation week.

I have a DCM that brings me Caribou coffee twice a week.

I also have a DCM that buys books and puzzles from Scholastic for her kids ALOT and always buys extra's for the daycare.

I have a DCD that is the first pick up of the day and the first drop off. If my sidewalk or drive hasn't been shoveled, he will do it.

I also have a DCD that works at a local paper mill. He brings me all those giant rolls of paper they usually toss.

I also have several families that will ask me if I want any of their unneeded toys and/or their outgrown winter gear to use as spares.

I have a daycare grandma that knits each kid I have in care a pair of slippers, a hat and mittens every year.

          Those are amazing!

One of our dcf's gave us a $500 bonus at Christmas time when their daughter had just started w/ us the end of October.

Same dcf gave us an extra week's pay as an apology for being 2 days late paying (wasn't going to charge late fee).

2 of our parents kept their children home when I was sick (above and beyond compared to the rest!)

Many kind letters, notes and emails about how much their child is growing and learning in our care.

One of my dcms offered to pay me $60/week more than her usual rate just because she doesn't want me to close!

I was floored and teared up, honestly.

I've been very blessed by my families. Lovely gifts at the holidays, thank you notes just because, lots of donated toys, books, clothing, etc.

When my one long term family left because their child was going to school in a different district, I got lovely Vera Bradley wallet with $300 inside. It was so unexpected and wonderful. I still use the wallet and think of the child every time.

One mom or grandma (whoever drops off that day) brings me coffee, like 6 times over the course of 10 months. Mom also brought me an orchid plant to say thanks for taking such good care of her DS. She also gave me $50 once for being so flexible and caring. I didn't even know and thought she overpaid so when I gave her the total for her next payment I deducted it and she said NO that was just an extra bonus for you!

Another mom brought me veggies from her garden, homemade biscotti and chocolate zucchini bread a couple times. She bought me a coffee once too!

I have a parent who brings me Chipotle once a week. Same DCM doesn’t bring her DD to care on her days off. She also lets me know when she’s going to Target or Costco and asks if I need anything.

Another DCP made me a sweet potato pie.

Dcm brings me dinner once a week. She figures I need an easy evening at least once a week :-)

Dcd is a fruit farmer so we get all sorts of goodies from him (apples, strawberries, blueberries, zucchini)

Another dcm tips me every week "because I don't charge enough"

Dcm once refilled my chocolate stash because I was having an awful week!

                            I love this thread!!

I have been very blessed with dcfs.

                            - When I was pregnant with my 3rd we had a Snow storm and I was talking to one of the dcms about how I was worried about going out later that night because I forgot to buy milk when I went shopping. She called Dcd after she left and he showed up at my house that night with 2 gallons of milk!

                            - lots and lots of cute letters & cards

                            - a Dcd bought me a super fancy knife just because (I still have it and it's the one that I hide so my dh won't use!)

                            - dcf made daycare lunch because we should get a day that we do to have to cook a hot lunch!

                            - Dcd will put a little bag of cut up pineapple in dcb lunch box for my youngest dd because he knows those are her favorites!

I have a family with a farm & they will occasionally bring me produce and eggs that a co-op member forgot to pick up. They also never bring their kid when sick, will pick up early if they get out early, or at least notify me they're off early & is it ok if they run somewhere first, etc. They're very considerate.
