    send home?

Pt dcm called this weekend to say dcg would not be attending M, but would pick up F instead- no big deal, schedule often changes week to week.
Today, dcg comes in with one of those stickers from the doctor's office. I ask dcm if dcg went to the dentist because it's not an annual check up time or anything. She says dcg had the stomach bug, low grade fever, last threw up Sun, and is on antibiotics for a lingering virus/cough.
Question: It's been longer than the 24 hr exclusion for vomit/fever, since last time dcg was sick was Sunday. But, I am concerned dcg is contagious with the stomach bug-which is not something any of us wants to deal with. She is already here, eating fine/acting fine, just a little on the pale side. Should I send home, or just deal?

I think since you accepted her into care and she is acting fine you should just deal. Vomiting is a 48 hr exclusion here. I had one last throw up 4pm sat and she stayed home monday.

From the CDC website: "People with norovirus illness are contagious from the moment they begin feeling sick until at least 3 days after they recover. But, some people may be contagious for even longer". I sent out the link to parents about symptoms/treatment, but am nervous I am going to get flak about allowing this child to attend while still contagious. Any thoughts?
