    Daycare zoning approval question

So I finally received my zoning approval answer and they said my address is considered to be in the High Density Development Zoning District and that does not allow for group DC homes. I have to send documentation to see if I qualify for home occupation.

Should I give up and not do DC or email and see for the home occupation?

Are there any other options? Such as requesting a hearing? Where I live, the general answer is also NO in high density areas but I can interview the close neighbors and write up a summary of their opinions of having a DC there, then request a hearing and present it to the board for an exception. Plus the hearing notice will be published in the paper so that anyone who objects can come to the hearing. I would inquire further in case other options may ne available first. Good luck!

Do you want to do family or were you specifically going for group? If you do want to do family, I would definitely see if you can, that's 6 kids that you can do dc for and I'm pretty sure you would be able to do family.

If it isn't going to cost you any money to pursue it, it doesn't hurt to try.

I know it depends on where you live, but like someone else mentioned, it generally is much easier to get permission to operate a family home vs. a group home. What are your reasons for wanting to do group? Just curious. I operated a group child care home in Michigan, and I will say 12 kids is a lot to have in your home
