I also think you should give the kids the slippers, even if they are to stay at your house for use there only. I think it would make her uncomfortable to get a gift when she isn't getting you one. I don't believe it's any ettiquite to get your dc provider any type of gift either. It is great if you do, but, I got none my first year open and don't expect any. I would rather the money be spent on the kids. I also give the kids a small gift and did not receive one Thank you, but, I will guess that is because of the break between giving and the kids being back in care. I don't think it was intentional.
Don't know how to take this ...

DO you have other children in your care and did you get ALL of them slippers ??? if so do not worry about it. That is not exchanging it is their teacher giving a gift.. I do not give my parents a gift though the children usually make something. again part of preschool. when the parents give a gift or money I consider it a bonus or a tip ANd I do not expect itIt:: will wait

Like I said, I am definitely giving the slippers as gifts to all the DCKs!
And just to clarify, I NEVER expect gifts from DCPs. I was just making a statement that I think people SHOULD gift their providers.
I think I will just refrain from buying any additional gifts (for her or the kids) as she requested.
Thank you everyone!- Flag

I was a bad DCparent when mine were little- I never gave a gift or bonus to my provider. It was hard enough to make ends meet and give gifts to my children without giving presents to everyone else too!
About 1/2 of our dcparents give us bonuses around christmas time. I don't buy presents for them, but we do more expensive "product" art presents, gifts for the dcks, and lots of holiday things with the kids at no extra cost to the parents.- Flag
