    Christmas Ornaments

OK, so I decided I'm going to put a little tree in the daycare room, just a little 3 footer. I would like to have the kids make the ornaments to decorate it, easy things ... like once a week until Christmas.

I'm already thinking beads on pipe cleaners, since they love doing those.

Any other ideas for 2 year olds to make up a pretty easy ornament for our daycare tree? It doesn't have to be a "keepsake" kind, since we will be making those kind for the parents for Christmas.

    Thanks for any help!

We've done the beads on pipe cleaners (candy canes); using candy canes plus pom poms, pipe cleaners, googly eyes to make reindeer, salt dough decorations (I am going to try this with my 2s, too); christmas trees with big pinecones and pom poms.

This is a good idea. How about ribbons? Would love to do this one of these days, the kids will definitely love this idea.

I just found this on pinterest.

With Christmas drawing nearer, and the days getting busier, I think you'll love these simple icicle ornaments that we made today.

You could buy the plaster ornaments in the craft section of Walmart, maybe even dollar store and have them paint them. Also the thin wood ones.

I just saw an idea but can't get the link as ad keeps popping up. You cut a house shape out of a cardboard box to be a gingerbread house and glue little candies on it or you could do a gingerbread boy/girl.

Although it isn't a craft they love to hang candy canes on the tree.

How about the cinnamon applesauce ornaments? They smell sooo good! Reindeer out of 3 popsicle sticks, tiny pompoms and chenille stems.

Another ornament we've done in the past is glue their picture in the middle of a frozen juice can lid, trim with bric brac, or something.

I have them free paint with colors that blend well together. Cut painting out into ornament shapes & put between contact paper. Hole punch at top & add ribbon.

Egg cup bells - paint (or decorate) egg carton cups and add a ribbon to hang.
popsicle stick stars/snowflakes - glue or double sided tape popsicle sticks together
