Parents send Pinterest ideas to your Facebook and ask you to make such and such Christmas ornament? I already do a lot of ornaments and they are very cute. Also, the ones they want me to make are ones the kids don't have much of a part in making. I like the kids to make their own ornaments.
Do You Feel Obligated When....

Just tell them you have received over fifty recommendations for crafts for the season. We appreciate the ideas. If we are able to do any of them we will let you know. If not, we hope your children enjoy crafting such great ideas with family.- Flag

None of my DC parents ever had, but I wouldn't feel obligated. If I liked it better than what I had planned I might do it but only if I wanted to.
DCM, thanks for the interest in our curriculum, however, I already have this year's crafts planned. What a great weekend project that will be for you and DCB. I can't wait to see a picture of how it turns out!

I would not feel obligated to do what anyone suggests for my daycare. You can not do everything that everyone suggests. It's nice that people offer suggestions/ideas sometimes, but you are the owner/operator of your daycare, and you have to do the things that you want to do, are able to do, and feel that the children would most benefit from doing in your daycare.
If you don't make the ornaments that the parents suggest, they can do those projects at home as a family, mommy/child, daddy/child activity. Which would be very nice for the child to have that special Christmas project that their family worked on together. Which sadly, I don't think happens often enough nowadays.
Maybe you can tell the parents something like, ' that's a nice/pretty ornament. I already have our Christmas activities/crafts planned out that we will do at daycare, but it would be a good Christmas craft for you and 'Johnny' to make at home.- Flag

No, I wouldn't feel obligated. I don't think any of my parent's would do that anyways. I think I would be offended if they did; it would seem like they would want their kids to do the project so they (the parents) can have it, but for me to do it for them rather than their family doing it together.- Flag

I have 2 parents to do that for every holiday, they're also my two parents who spend a minimum amount time possible with their children. I just started responding " that's so cool! make sure to update us with pictures after you and Johnny finish it! :-)- Flag

I don't feel obligated, it annoys me.It happens about 3 times a month. Rarely are they age appropriate.
I used to respond, but now I silently delete them and go about my day.
I want to tag nutritional info, bedtime recommendations and marriage counseling sites to their pages..... but I don't.- Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.- Flag

After a bit I sent home kits (put together in ziplocks) for them to do at home (art supplies are a tax deduction, so if I have them I don't mind sharing). They did them, it went great...
Now, I do a full on curriculum (State requirement) that already includes 3 crafts a week. Not to mention holiday/heirloom crafts that parents want. I hate it. The kids hate it. I am stuck and a tad bitter right now.....:

All we want to do is throw paint balls at trees and jump in leaves...
I promise I will have a better attitude on January 3rd.- Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.- Flag

I have never received such a suggestion, but I'd probably respond like this:
The kids and I would be happy to help you make your ornaments this year...just send the supplies and we'll work it into our schedule. How many do you need us to make?- Flag

I tell you.... The first few times I asked them to bring a few of the more difficult to find items and I would do them. They did and it was nice...

Now you just gave me a great idea for Christmas gifts for DCK/DCF's......
I think I will pre-package some Christmas/holiday craft items (undone) and give the set to the child as a "gift of time" to spend with their parent.
Can't guarantee any of them will do it but it sounds nice from my end.- Flag

I sent foam reindeers with a "Rudolf" book, cookie dough mix/cookie cutters with "If you give a Mouse a Cookie", and a pack of muffin mix/rubber baking cups with "If you give a Moose a Muffin". (based on age)
The evil side of me is having much fun deciding what to send with "Llama Lama Holiday Drama" this year......Perpetual kid has spit balls that swell to 1000 times their size in water....
