Any Seinfeld fans here? Remember when George decided to eat everything including a candy bar with a fork and knife? Lol.

Maybe I'm just a little more relaxed- life is so short and milestones can be vey overrated. Kids should never feel stressed at meal time. If they are able to eat with a fork and spoon- fantastic! If not, they will eventually learn. I'd rather them have fun eating veggies with their hands than not at all. I haven't met a kid yet that has gone to college not able to use a fork, .

DCB who is 23 months old has used a fork and spoon since he was 18m. DCB who is 20m has used them since he started at 18m. However, DCB who is 20m and started at 18m still does not use his. They get thrown on the floor, stuck in his mouth backwards, in his hair everywhere and every way but the way they should be used. Drives me bonkers!! He eats everything with his hands, rubs his food on his face, table etc. I just sit there and repeat "use your spoon, use your fork please" over and over. DCM has said she doesn't make them use them at home because her prefers to use his fingers.

I don't make a big deal of it but, it does drive me nuts. I think developmentally he isn't ready but, I will continue to give them to him and model the proper use.
