    Sweets/dessert after lunch??

Does anyone do this? I have been giving some small dessert after lunch but I'm thinking about stopping it all together and just having special desserts very rarely. I'm trying to cut my grocery budget and the extra dessert (sometimes sugar free pudding or jello, a small cookie, etc.) is definitely something I would feel ok cutting out.

    What does everyone else do??

i wouldn't give them desserts. you could allow the parents to bring things for their kids if they want to - or just do it once a week. you don't have to do it at all, but the kids might miss it if you've been doing it awhile - so maybe do it only on Friday or something.

I don't do dessert. I do 2 snacks (morning and afternoon) and lunch, and if I want to give them a treat it's usually at afternoon snack.

I do it, but only on occasion. For instance, if I made a dessert for my own family I would offer the leftovers as a lunch dessert the next day to my dck's (but really mostly so that it's not sitting in my kitchen for a temptation for myself or my hubby- we are doing Weight Watchers right now!). When we have special holiday parties they get treats then, too.
I should mention that they do get a dumdum lipop after cleanup IF they have done a great job cleaning up & they beat the timer. They are super tiny lipops so I don't feel bad about giving them just one every day. It costs me all of $6.00 for a HUGE pack that lasts me about a month.

I don't do desert either, I do snack.

Once a month they get make your own ice cream sundae, other than that, snack is something quick & inexpensive.

I probably have a dessert 2 or 3 times a month. If I make a cake, brownies, etc. for my family, there are always leftovers. Then for snacks if there is a birthday party that month we will have cake or cupckes for that as well.

No, no dessert (fruit isn't dessert). If they have a sweet we have it for snack. The food program only allows two sweets a week as well on my menu.

Can't agree with the drink only with food. I have a cup of water for each child that stays where they can grab & drink at any time of day. It's no-spill for little ones, and regular for bigger. I just re-fill them as needed, or the bigger ones can re-fill by themselves. If they're thirsty, they need to drink. Water is not something I would EVER withhold.

I'm a strong believe in water too. All the kids have these cute small water bottles with their names on them. They stay in the same location on my kitchen counter and they are free to drink from them whenever they want.

I'm exactly the same. They have their names and they stay on the counter.
