Do You Have School Age Children?

How do you get them on the bus while little ones are still asleep? Where is your bus stop compared to your daycare? Thanks!!!

That was one reason I like doing afternoon care and don't have to worry about that problem.

The bus here picks up at the end of a 300 yard drive way out from the woods. Half the time the bus passes the house because he can't see our driveway and had to come back for my two kids.

In the last, I'd load everyone up in my car and take the bus kids to the end of the road.

Now, since I do afternoon care, I just drive my two to school.

Occasionally I have an overnight during the week so I just wake them up like my kids and out them in the truck

Our bus picks up right at the end of my sidewalk. I can either stay inside and watch them all, or go out on the porch (gated) and the kids wander in or on the porch watching for the bus with us.

Our bus stop is 2 houses down from ours so I can watch from my front door until I see them get on the bus.

My SA contract states very clearly that I do NOT walk kids to the bus stop (two houses away and out of sight) and that I can only be responsible for making sure they head out on time to make the bus. I stress this at the interviews and when the child graduates to Kindergarten (although in my state having a K student means door to door pick up and drop off). My contract further states that if a child isn't capable of walking to the bus stop and behaving appropriately it's the parents responsibility to take care of it.
Of course I live in a small neighborhood where everyone looks out for everyone else, so I may be more relaxed then most.
