    Not Eating

I finally started a new boy this week. He is 3 1/2. Has been in day care before. Dad is a single parent because mom left them a few weeks ago. Poor guy.

My issue is that he has not eaten one single bite of food since he started! Starts crying for both parents. Definitely does not get enough sleep and I spoke to dad about this. Otherwise he's happy and social.

Obviously I need to give him more time but any advice? 48 years doing this and never seen it before.
    I see little people.

Oh my gosh, that is so sad I feel for him. Poor baby.

I have a dcg with me right now who just turned 3. Her parents split in March but she saw dad regularly until about 2 months ago, when he became very inconsistent with seeing her. I think mom say he saw her for about 30 minutes on Halloween and hasn't seen her other than that in over 2 weeks. She used to talk about him all the time and would get really upset if I said anything to DD about HER dad (not dcgs). She barely eats here but mom says thats normal for her. She also just gets sad throughout the day. Will be totally fine, playing, and then literally drop what she's doing, get up, and walk to a different part of the house or yard and hide her face. For no reason other than she thought of something that broke her little heart. Its terrible. Very sad.

Her mom just asked me if I have a referral for someone that she can take dcg to talk to someone, try to get some coping methods for her and dcm who is also having a tough time seeing dcg go through it. I gave them a referral to a local Adolescent Mental Health Organization where they have counselors that help kids work through this stuff. Other than that, just be there to support him and make him feel safe, secure and loved. Good luck.

Sorry, I don't have any advice for that as I have one also that doesn't eat much.

BUT, 48 YEARS!! Holy smokes! I thought 24 was a lot. I love my job, but that thought of doing it for another 24 years makes me cringe. Kudos to you!
      I'm tired, .
