I Would Rather be A-n-y-w-h-e-r-e Else

    It's one of those days:

#1 12mo Dcb has pooped 4 times and it is only lunchtime. This is normal for him. His pants fall down constantly too because they are all too big.

#2 2yo Dcg comes in already saying "My dad My dad" even though the other kids couldn't care less. Then is just go on from there "my blanket" "mine" "no."

#3 11mo dcb's mom didn't get him used to the bottle even though I told her to. Dcm's plan is for him to drink milk from a sippy with no stopper as I pour it into his mouth. Oh so pleasant for both of us.

#4 3 1/2yo Dcb thinks none of the kids like him, and they don't, because he whines incessantly. He is the oldest kid here today and has cried more than anyone about nothing. Cross your eyes and he will cry.

#5 dcg won't eat anything because when she refuses to eat her parents will give her anything just so she will eat (chips, pop tarts) She hasn't touched a turkey sandwich, a PBJ, or chicken pot pie I offered for lunch. Oh well, she'll be hungry. She'll ask me 45 times when snack is and what we are having.

#6 Mother nature. I had to get up early to shovel snow and put salt on the icey driveway. It is too cold and slick for the kids to go out.

I guess I should feel incredibly lucky. My own two kids, who are out of school today for conferences, are remarkably quiet. They are both getting over sinusitis but much better this week. Is till feel like a pharmacy though haha.

I brought special dcg and her little brother back from the little ones shots and they have both been very good today. They both went down for nap promptly at 1:00 pm.

Now, I'm expecting the 3 sibling set at 4:00 pm and of course, I can predict none if them got naps at home today and then all heck will break loose. But until then, I anticipate quiet .

Do the parents have to sign-off to allow you to take the child for shots? I am super surprised that a parent would miss their child's well check. Great that you were able to take the child but in case something happened I can't imagine not being there.

Mom signs a transportation slip and has a notarized paper for each child giving me permission to take them to any and all medical appointments, well child checks, shots, procedures etc. she also has a power of attorney for the kids medical care in case I need to make major medical decisions for the special dcg who at times, for blood work, has to have the PICC team called to get labs drawn.

Long story behind this family but let's just say, if anything happens to mom, I'm the mother to two additional children

But legally all I have to have on file is a generic permission to transport form and the dr has to have on file permission for me to sign permission for shots etc. we just have it set up 100% to cover all of our bases mainly due to medically fragile older child who is almost two.

Mom does get to most of both kids appointments other than the occasional physical therapy appointment for the girl and a few regular check ups etc. but if my husband is home and mom is working, I take them.

Just want to say I have so much admiration for you. I could not do what you do & can only imagine how thankful their mom is (or at least should be!).

Awe thanks. To me, this is normal. It does feel good for mom to appreciate me and what I do though she tells me daily.
