    Some Parents!

He was absent Thurs/Fri last week (attends M-Wed)and came back today. We saved his treat bags from Halloween for him and the other kids were excited to see him. At circle time, he told us he didn't have a costume or go ToT. He is 3. His Mom is an acquaintance of mine so I sent her a quick text. "Hey Joe says he didn't go ToT. What was he for Halloween?" and I get back "Oh, ya he didn't go. I had a party and big Joe (Dad, not together) just kept him home."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Dad called me for a schedule change request and I couldn't keep my big mouth shut and told him what Joe said. He passed the buck to Mom, saying she dropped him off late with no costume. I didn't go for that and told him he knew Halloween was coming up and there was really no excuse. His reasoning? dcb won't remember it.

The Mom posted pictures of her and her bf's elaborate costumes on FB and how she enjoyed the break. She dropped dcb off with his Dad on Thurs and didn't PU until this morning. She only has him M-W every other week ANYWAY and this was her week to have him through the weekend.

He was so sad this morning and near tears. We pulled the dress up trunk out, played ToT and the kids had candy (2 pieces each) as an AM snack.

This Mom is a 'friend' of mine, we have known each other for 10 years or so and since separating from dcb's dad, her parenting has gone downhill so fast. Dcb naps "whenever' or she lets him sleep in until 11:30 so he can sleep in on days she does have him (tried this ONCE with me and missed DO and I would NOT take him that day), he comes here even though she works 2nd shift, and is never with him, EVER. It's taking everything in me to not ask her why she even bothered having kids.

You are NOT 21. This is NOT college. YOU ARE A MOTHER. YOU DON'T GET A BREAK ON HALLOWEEN. HALLOWEEN IS NOT ABOUT BEER PONG AND SLUTTY COSTUMES ANYMORE! GRRRRRRR!

That's so sad. And I totally agree that this isn't college any more. Some parents take entirely too long to realize this. That poor boy I'm gad he has you and you were able to give him a ToT experience. Hopefully they don't drop the ball next year.

One of my parents told her kids (in front of me) carving pumpkins was too big of a hassle for her so she wasn't doing it. I mention the trend of painting them & she said she just wasn't getting into that pumpkin $H!T again; she's over it.

Poor guy! I would feel soooo guilty if I didn't take my kids! At 3 he may not remember it, but pictures tell a story and he knows what's going on. I agree with Brooksie, good thing he has you!

What? I don't get why parents are so lazy these days. I painted and carved pumpkins with my kids and my 4 daycare kids! And then helped carve again when my dd did hers. What a big hassle...

Dear lord, that is so sad.

Thank you for trying to give him somewhat of a ToT experience. lovethis

I'm sorry your friend is having trouble sorting out her priorities. Her child is the one who suffers for that.
