How long in advance do you notify parents? I need to take off November 18th. originally I was going to have my sub cover the morning for me but I don't know how long its going to take, or the state I will be in when I return... I'll be having a custody conference for my daughter and her father is extremely difficult. I could also use the day to get some things done that I can't on the weekend. If I notify the tomorrow do you think that's reasonable? It will be one of my 5 paid personal days per year so I won't be discounting their tuition.

If you need it, go for it. I always aim for ASAP but wouldn't give any less than 2 weeks if I needed to.- Flag

A two week notice is fine to me, plus they should remember that you took that day off!
I took a day off in Oct. I went to a concert on a Sunday and used a personal day for Mon. I gave my parents a 2 months notice. I put the day off in two separate newsletters and also mentioned it to most in person and I still had a parent look confused when I put up a note up on the door a week before, reminding them of the closure.- Flag
