Mom Thinks My Baby Can Read Is The Greatest Thing

I have a little girl that has been in care for just over a year for a long time she didn't talk at all now she does a lot of wondering. Right now she is sitting on the floor with a basket of blocks I gave her but she is not building with them she just picks them up over and over and says blue, red, yellow over and over. This goes on all day if she is playing in the kitchen area she does it with the cups or just sits on the floor and say the letters on the abc rug over and over.

Mom thinks My Baby Can Read is the greatest thing in the world and this child watches it every night at home. Do you think this could be part of the problem? I watch some of it on youtube and she talks just like the movie

Oh that's sad. Children need time with adults, interacting with them, communicating, talking to them. That is the base for reading and language skills. The companies that sell these products are a huge problem, as are people who believe the shpeil without doing research. Hugs to the baby. Just talk to her a lot and play with her.

i had a parent donate the my baby can read stuff. they are sitting on a shelf and don't get used. but we do like the brainy baby dvds and baby einstein. we watch them together and it reinforces our circle time topics while helping with the beginning language sounds enforcement for my little guy who is delayed. i use them purely to reinforce though. it is not a primary way to learn skills

I have seen A LOT of ads on craigslist that say, "We do the Your Baby Can Read Curriculum" :: Translation: You sit them in front of the tv all day
