    Dribbling In Her Underwear

My daughter will be 4 in December. She has been potty trained for sometime now but dribbles in her underwear 3 or more times a day. I always change her underwear per her request. She has rarely gone through her pants. Do you think she will gain better control with time? Should I be concerned? I thought about panty liners but am not sure if that would be appropriate for a 4yo? Thoughts?

does she do it because she doesnt get to the bathroom in time? From my experience around age 4, children would rather play than go potty. I always see a slight regression because they just wait too long and cant get there in time.

I had a daycare girl do this for a long time. She was about the same age.

Her mom took her to the doctor to rule out any physical issues. She came back with a clean bill of health so we (her mom and I) figured it was kind of a lazy thing...like maybe she was in a hurry to get back to her activity that she wasn't taking the time to go all the way...kwim?

When does it seem to happen most? Before going? After going? or just any old time?

I'd make sure she sits on the toilet until she is COMPLETELY finished and even wait a minute before being done/wiping before getting up.

Maybe she is holding it until the last possible moment before going?

I don't know...just trying to get a sense of when this happens so you can pinpoint the root of it better.

Does she say anything about it? What it feels like before, during or after this leakage happens?

We had a dcg 4 who did this also- We found that she was trying to hold it too long to avoid going during play. We started having her go when the PT's do (every 2 hours or so) and it stopped the problem completely.

Could she have a UTI? Often this will mess with their ability to control dribbles.

I have had two DCGs do this, and it was because they wanted to change their clothes/underwear. So after a few times each, I caught their drift and they got t to wear plan white underwear (nothing fun), and i gave them as little attention as possible. In both cases it stopped quickly. They just liked the attention/process of getting to stop and change mid-day.

Could totally not be on purpose, but that has been my experience.
