Initially the proposals went in greater detail and you could see exactly the way they were headed. I think the letter sounds very vague and that's worrying.
The one proposal was that kids needed to be in sight and sound and close enough for you to intervene. Well, we go in my big back yard and the big kids play on the play structure while I keep young toddlers and babies on the grass by me - will that still be allowed? The way it was worded initially I don't think so.
Also the provider must have full attention with no distractions on the kids - what about making meals? Helping children in the bathroom? (I do totally understand that they are probably targeting providers spending too much time on the 'puter or tablet while the kids "free play"but like any reg it's the unintended consequences that matter.
And the meds thing - what does that mean?
It sounds as though these revisions are another nail in the FCC coffin...- Flag

Yes, the letter is very vague.
I too see what they are getting that with the supervision rules, but I have a real problem regs that are both unrealistic and unenforceable. Providers shouldn't be on the phone or computer all day. We know that, but those who don't care will still do it and those of us who do care will continue to do a good job.
Also, a reg that says we cannot use the phone or computer for "personal reasons" is not fair. Yes, supervision is our number one priority, but when are we supposed to take care of business (bills, calling doctors, dentists, making appointments, contacting our own children's teachers) if we can't do anything during business hours (from the sounds of it they are including nap time as well)?- Flag

That is a workplace rule for employees!! And they are already regs in place limiting personal business when the kids are up!! I know they were having a comment period, did I miss it?!
