I guess I should add one too!

The time I had a dcm walk through the door with her child puking into a bucket he was carrying under his face and said she had to get to work, it just happened and it was too late to keep him home.

I was fairly new to dc and shocked, so I kept him.

Later I found out the employees had sick child care available at her work! (she was a nurse).

    They were my first term.

      an interview once

Parent- What do you serve for meals that are healthy?

Me- I went on and on and on

Me- Then I thought maybe I should ask what the child likes, feel the parent out a little bit. So I asked if the child had any allergies and what the child likes to eat at home for meals?

Parent- Raimon noodles, french fries, nuggets, fruit loops and some other off the wall food that you wouldn't feed a six month old. Then parent goes on to tell me and go ahead and let that diaper fill right up because they are expensive and can't afford them

Gosh she had some fun stories!
I'm one too! (diaperqueen) And I was thinking of the pants incident while reading the embarrassing moments.

Not exactly a "request", but more of a dumb interview question. I'm sure she was just nervous, and this was her first (and ended up to be her only) kid.

Regarding her newborn, she asked, "You don't shake them do you?"

I have teacher dcps and they are far and away the most difficult and demanding parents I have! The mom didn't want me giving her child Cheerios because they contain sugar, so she brought her version of Cheerios...which may contain traces of peanuts, after she signed a notice that I have a child in care with a life threatening peanut allergy. "But yours have sugar in them!"
Nobody here is deathly allergic to sugar, lady.

I'm also wondering what a CFer is?

ChildFun member, it's another provider forum.

I belong to both and read often, but post very little (obviously ).

These two places are where my all my "co-workers" are

It happened 14 years ago. I ended up taking the infant and she grew up in my Daycare. I had her until she was 11 1/2. We're still friends with her and her parents. Mom is deaf, and sometimes just doesn't "get" social norms. Love the family to pieces. Mom was just nervous and wanted to cover all bases I guess.

                              It's nothing like daycare.com

It doesn't have anywhere near the traffic to the child care section. It DOES have a slammin archive. Goes way back. I think it's the biggest child care board archive on the net.

The archives are valuable. I suggest going to the beginning and reading the threads that have ten or more replies. If you are interested in seeing issues as they evolve over time in child care it is a good resource. Ivillage used to maintain their archive too but I don't know if they still do. I think it goes back to the early 2000's

I've been on ChildFun for years. Traffic has slowed way down since everyone went on Facebook. That's one of the reasons I joined over here, I love it by the way.
