    Preschool Prep Videos?

So I had a parent give me the Preschool Prep videos. They are a little annoying for me to watch but I put it on for the kids yesterday while I was making lunch and they really enjoyed it. I have been having issues with the kids getting cranky while I'm making lunch. The way I have things set up, I can see everything in the daycare room from my kitchen. I prep either in the morning or the day before, but when I am cooking, I am in and out of the kitchen and the kids always start whining. I have a 14 month old, 16 month old and an 18 month old. When I put the video on, it was like MAGIC!

When I played the video yesterday, I had to bring in a tv from another room because I don't have one in the daycare room. I don't want the parents to think I am sitting their kids in front of the tv all day. Is it bad if I put one of these videos on everyday while I'm making lunch? Please say no, its not bad, .

I use music throughout the day to determine our mood- upbeat while we are playing, more quiet before naptime, etc. I have really started to get into a good rhythm with these guys its just awful right before eating time. I will add, right after eating time too. These guys are messy. I have to wet swiffer or get down and wipe up the floor after every meal. I was thinking that I could put the video on pause when we eat and then after we eat, they could watch the rest while I clean up. What do you guys think?

We have "meet the shapes", "meet the colors", and "meet the letters", and my kids LOVE them. To me they are like flash cards, but more interesting.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. A 1/2 hour to an hour of EDUCATIONAL television will not harm them. I would say as long as they aren't sitting too close to the TV and it doesn't exceed an hour per day, you are fine!

They are like flashcards! I have the whole series, there are 10 of them. The lady that created them lives about 10 min away from me. They've won 25 national awards. I was going to be anti any tv, but after one of the DCP gave them to me, I thought, what the heck and it really was the most educational video I've ever seen for kids. After the meet the letters, colors, shapes and numbers there is meet the sight words level 1, 2, and 3, then Meet the phonics-digraphs, letter sounds and blends.

I'm going to add these in ever day and not feel guilty about it. Yay to no guilt!happyface

I don't see anything wrong with it. I let my kids watch educational programs while I make lunch. They don't have to watch them, it's a choice. I do stop it when we eat and sometimes I let them watch them while I clean if it's really messy and needs to be cleaned up right away.

I do not like these videos. Every time they are on, they make me fall asleep.

            BUT....

The kids love them. I have meet the numbers and meet the sight words. Honestly, I think they were a great supplement when I was teaching my daughter her numbers and she was getting 6,9,8 mixed up.

They did raise my standards of videos as well. I realized a video didn't need to be loud and flashy. I tried "they might be giants (?)" and a few "rock n leearn" and they gave me such a headache from the flashing lights.

Yes, super annoying. I have no idea why, but my kids LOVE them. It's so weird haha!

I am using Funshine express right now and I am kind of bored with it. Do you think MGT would work with a 2.9 yo and a 2.6yo.?

I wouldn't have a problem with it personally- I have the tv on while I make lunch too. Educational- the kids are getting tired and hungry at that point so they often need to just veg for a little bit.
I do lunch clean up after they lay down
