New Contract At The Beginning Of The Year

Does anyone else write up a new contract each year for the parents to sign? I just started home daycare in July. The problem I'm having is the parents agreed to 4 days a week for daycare, but there have been times where at the last minute they decide to only send one child for two days.

I understand parents taking time off and vacations and I have no problem with that. However, I do rely on this income and I'm thinking at the beginning of the year, drafting a new contract and including that payment for the full 4 days is required unless it is a holiday or my vacation time or if I'm sick.

Does anyone else still charge even if the kids won't be there, like if the kids are sick or they just decide to keep them home?

Yes, all of my parents are contractually obligated to pay regardless of attendance. They are paying to keep their space. If they don't want to pay that way, they can sign up as drop in, and then I charge a higher daily rate, but their space isn't guaranteed. I can and WILL replace drop in spaces.

I don't know a single person in my area that doesn't charge if the child is absent. The fee is required regardless of attendence.

ALL forms and contracts are renewed and/or re-signed yearly.

ALL rates are according to enrollment NOT attendance.

A parent signing on for 4 days would pay for 4 days regardless of how many days they actually used.

EVERY provider does it differently so there is NO one right or wrong way. You do have to do things that work for you though and there is nothing wrong with that.
