I usually wash, but sometimes I just rinse. I mention it one way or the other at pick up.
Every now and again I send a cup or bowl home with one of my kids and when the parents bring it back they always mention that they washed it. For some reason I always wash it again before it gets used ::. I figure they probably do the same thing so it doesn't really matter one way or another

I wash them. I only have a couple that do this though. I'm a total neat freak and I have terrible OCD though. It actually feels physically impossible for me to put something away dirty. I actually clean when I'm stressed out because it makes me physically relaxed and happy. I may not be the best person to take advice from though because I'm a little nutso when it comes to cleaning and organizing. I wish I could relax a bit on it. I probably need therapy,.

Besides the bacteria issue, this business is a service. Our parents are our bosses, they pay our salary, we work for them. Once you forget that you become like all of the other complaining daycare owners on this site who complain all day long about the parents. If you don't like this business- get out! Stop complaining.
How hard is it to wash dishes? We have to have a whole thread on it? WASH THEM, omg! You are getting paid to do this! This is your JOB!
I want to be an employee but I can't get my daycare parents to pay their employer part like unemployment and half the social security. I want to get half salary for every kid that leaves for 12-18 months until I find a suitable replacement. I wouldn't be in a big hurry to do that since I would be getting half pay on the slot.
It would be a rare parent who would want to be my employer if it meant they had to shell out that kind of cash.
I have breast milk containers I run thru the dishwasher but other than that I don't allow anything to be brought in and out.
If you want to wash them then have at it. If it's easier to toss them back in the bag then do that. My son took pack lunch for years and we didn't have a problem with bacteria. The teachers in the lunch room didn't clean his Tupperware.- Flag

Do you feel like you are giving your parents the best level of service by giving them back sour bottles? That must be really gross every time they open them up at night to wash them. I'm not sure how you can even think that is ok to do? It's just plain rude and gross!- Flag

I wash them thoroughly and dry them before I put it back in the bag. If you don't, the bacteria grows in the bag they are in, if it is a reusable bag. These kids are our future, LOVE them! Help these parents by teaming up WITH them, not against them.

Wait, let me get this straight...... just because you are a neat freak and get physically ill when it comes to dirty dishes not being washed you think ALL providers should wash dishes brought from home?
You even tell one of them that it's rude to not wash dishes and that it's bad business practice. (I won't even comment on the working for the parents statement)
Then you go on to say that you wish you could change/relax a bit more about it.....
So instead of trying to focus on what you need to change, you post anonymously and take it out on other providers?
I will say, I agree with you but only about the part where you said you probably need therapy.- Flag

I don't allow food or drinks to be brought from home from anyone over 18 months.
For the babies on formula, I require a can of formula and a couple of bottles that stay here. I do wash/sanitize those, as they don't leave my house.
For the babies on breastmilk, I quickly rinse the bottles and throw away drop ins if they have them.
I have had a few that send homemade baby food in Tupperware containers, and I quickly rinse them. I make sure my families know that the things coming home are only rinsed, not washed or sanitized.- Flag

I wash them and put them back, but I'm already washing all the other bottles, cups and spoons. I work in a center so the lunch dishes go back to the kitchen. I don't end up with a lot of dishes to do each day. Since I have all babies, I do try to keep things as clean as possible. Most of my parents don't take things home, however.- Flag

senario #1 we wash their dishes and parents blame us if kid gets sick.. because we either didn't wash good enough or we left soap on the dishes.
(neither would be true)
senario #2 we don't wash the dishes and kid gets sick because parent didn't wash dish good enough and blames it on us
( these parents don't last long anywhere)
Scenario #3 we rinse the dish as good as we can ..put it in the bag and parent is responisible for washing their own kids dishes and we tend to all the other things that we are paid to do such as diapers, feeding, teaching, loving, cleaning and supervising- Flag

Parents do not pay me to wash dishes, I am not a babysitter. If I was and that is why they came here then maybe yes they would expect me to be their dishwasher.
So why do they come to my program??? For the hands on experiences I provide for their children. the fantastic learning program that excites the children and prepares them for school.
got to say if they wanted a dishwasher they would choose babysitter that spends her time washing dishes instead of a preschool/childcare providing experiences for their children.It:: will wait

If we didn't respond to rude remarks posted by 'unregistered' users they would probably get bored and leave. They WANT us to get all upset. More fun for them!
The only time I would respond is if I had a witty comeback cause sometimes it is just fun to be a smarta$$.

I provide my own preferred dishes and bottles so on the very rare occasion that a client brings their own then I rinse the dishes/bottles and return them at the end of the day to be washed at home.- Flag

I wash all the morning and lunch Tupperware during quiet time but the afternoon snack Tupperware gets thrown back into the lunchbag because I don't have time to wash it with all my School Agers here and kiddies getting up from naps.- Flag

I have one parent who brings organic milk in their container and I put it in the dishwasher. It gets sent home whenever that load of dishes is done.
If I took infants and had bottles, I would only rinse.- Flag
