In my contract there is a fee for supplies I have to provide at $1/diaper. I've never had a parent forget yet. I make sure they know they need more as well. If they don't bring diapers/wipes I wouldn't accept the child that day.- Flag

refuse services and don't let them come back in without the necessary supplies.
I have in my policies that your child cannot attend for the day if they do not have the necessary supplies listed. You will be asked to leave with your child and can return to care once you have all of the supplies needed. Remember class time starts at 9am, if you cannot get here before that time, you will need to return to the school at lunch time, 12:45. If for some reason your child is here without the necessary supplies, we will send your child home for the day and will not be allowed to return until all supplies needed are brought to care. There are no credits or discounts given for days missed for any reason or for sending children home.
This is not word for word, but it says something like this- Flag

I don't mind sending someone home in a 25 cent pair of pants (resale shop), but if it was chronic, I'd go with the $1 per diaper thing. Payable IN CASH AT ARRIVAL the next day. NO PAY, NO STAY.
I'm pretty sure they'd remember really fast.
I don't open individual boxes of wipes. Everyone is just asked to bring some at random times when I get low, and I keep one box on the changing table and one in the kitchen for quick wipe-ups of faces. If someone didn't bring some, I'd ask for $5 or something to cover their share.- Flag

It's a great idea to not let the child stay without supplies, or to charge per diaper, but unless the op is the director of the center, or someone who can make decisions like that (in which case, please disregard my post) that wouldn't be a possibility unless it was the center's policy.
In any case, I would bring the issue up with the director, or supervisor. Hopefully they would take the problem up with the parents, since you are not getting any results. We've had that situation recently, and ended up sending home a note about bringing supplies. Then when the child is almost out of diapers or wipes, we send home a note as well as telling the parent/guardian verbally.- Flag

I work in a center too. We start by doing a cubby notice when we realize they'll be out soon. If that doesn't work, we start doing verbal reminders- our opener and closer verbally remind parents.
Then once they're out, we let parents know at drop off. If they don't bring more in (most say they'll bring some in on their break, lunch, etc), we have the front desk do a courtesy call to parents work that child still doesn't have supplies.
We let parents know that we had to use X amount of supplies from our extras and will be repaying the stock when they finally bring the child's supplies.
For clothes, we have extras but they're ugly and we write in thick red Sharpie marker ALL over our extras. They say "Daycare Name, Room #". We've even had to resort to putting girl short shorts on a boy because he was really big and that was the only bottoms we had in his size :/- Flag

I also give them a heads up in advance, always tuck a few diapers aside so that I am ahead of the running out.
No need of this you just have to be firm and have everyone on board at your center-- Flag

I also keep a stock of extra clothes that I have picked up at yard sales that I will use if I run out of clothing and I don't care if a boy goes home in pink pants. That usually gets the message across very well, esp if parent is going to stop somewhere before going home. Plus they don't keep them, they bring them back. My parents are good, but sometimes the stock they leave me with depletes before they restock- not on purpose just happens, so I have a few things on hand for just in case times.- Flag

this parent is chronic for not bringing things. our director spoke to her yesterday and mom brought in diapers but no wipes or clothes. i have a crate of extras in my room that are all old and out of style. i never see them again.... im at wits end. with my boys if i remind too many times and run out i usually put a girl pullup on him out of extras and get diapers the next day. i feel for this poor lil girl. she wears boy stuff anyway. mom puts her in brother hand me downs- Flag

Forgetting something one day on rare occasion is understandable, it happens. We borrow (and replace) or use extras. A second day without supplies and the owners will tell the parents the kids cannot be dropped off until supplies are there. We have a Walgreens about a mile away, there shouldn't be an issue.- Flag

If a child runs out of supplies... say they poop three pairs of pants in a day, or go through 7 diapers all of a sudden and that was the last... parents forgot... I text the parents, they come get the child.
So... if a parent didn't bring them, and the child was at risk of being short... I would text the parents to come get their child. Simple as that.- Flag
