    CA Providers: Ratio Question

Looking for clarification. I hold a Lg license in CA, but recently reduced care to no more than 6 (including my SA child) by myself. Just need clarification if I'm by myself if my ratio would revert back to SM license numbers? Basically am I in ratio if:

    4 children under 2yo
    1 child over 2yo
    1 SA

I've read all the forms and still need clatification.
    Thanks

I'm a small family daycare in CA and licensed for 8. When I first started though, I was only licensed for 6. They increased the number years ago, so that 2 of those 8 could be S/A.

I can only have 3 under 2 yo if I have 6 children in my care and 2 under 2yo if I have 8.

and if you have more then 6, up to 8 you can only have 2 infants (under 2)
        So you could do
3 infants, 2 children over 2, and your SA
or 2 infants, 4 children over 2, & 2 SA (yours plus one more)

          I'm a small in CA

          My license says:
MAX CAP: 6 - no more than 3 infants or 4 infants only.
CAP: 8 - no more than 2 infants, 1 child in kindergarten or elementary school and 1 child at least age 6.

So like Margarete said you can have up to
4 DCK's if all four are under 2 years old
6 DCK's if only 3 of them are under 2 years old or
8 DCK's if only 2 of them are under 2 years old, one is enrolled (and attending) kindergarten, and the other is at least 6 years old

California ratio's are so hard to understand and remember!

Here is what it says in the Title 22 Handbook:

"For a Small Family Child Care Home, the maximum number of children cared for,
including children under age 10 who live in the home, is one of the following:
            • Four infants, or six children, no more than three of whom may be infants.
            • Six children, or up to eight children when one child is at least six years of age
and one child is enrolled in and attending kindergarten or elementary school and
no more than two infants are in care. Parent notification and property owner
            consent must be on file."

Here is the link to the handbook:

When all else fails you can always call you local child care office and ask.

Yeah, you can't have 4 infants plus other kids. It's 4 infants only.
