    Constant Blowing Out of Diaper?

OK so I realize babies inevitably will have a blow out now and again... now I am convinced a daily one is an indication something is up.... I am no poop scientist or anything but seems a little too frequent..... anyone ever run into this and what did you do?

Ugh, I've had a few babies that did that everyday! It wasn't wattery, just mushy and lots of it! It was normal for them so I just dealt with it, plus I worked in a center so it wasn't up to me, but even if I didn't, I would have just dealt with it. Actually I do have one here that frequently has blow outs, but for him it is normal; it isn't diarrhea so I'm not worried. As long as it isn't wattery diarrhea, I wouldn't worry about it. I think some children just poo like that!

I have a toddler right now who has daily explosions.

Mom OVER feeds the child liquids and personally I think my little one has a dairy intolerance and/or allergy.

Mom says child drinks more than 1/2 a gallon of milk daily.

Holy smokes! That is a lot of milk in a little belly! I truly feel kiddo needs the next size in diapers but mom admitted to me she will not purchase diapers unless they are the huge case and she doesn't want to go up a size.... It gets frustrating when I am cleaning and scrubbing whatever the poop spread on AND the kid from head to toe.... a quick diaper change turns into a 3 ring circus....

Do you work in a center? I seem to recall that you do, but if you don't I would insist in her bringing bigger diapers. I would tell her that her child's poo is getting all over and it could pose a health hazard and if it can be prevented then it needs to be.

I had this exact child. After BATTLING her about going to the Dr. It turns out the amount of milk he was drinking in a day actually caused him to have an adverse reaction to dairy. I also feel he had a gluten issue, which I have a feeling was diagnosed after they left.

I have a 6 month old that is finishing this stage right now. For her, I think it has a lot to do with that fact that she was really excited about the skill of sitting up. It was the only thing she wanted to do all day. And, when she poops sitting up, it just gushes right up her back. For a while there, we were having daily blow outs.
Now, she is starting to roll and to get on all fours and rock. Crawling will be here soon. Blow outs have slowed way down.

I thought so too (about the gluten) and mom actually had the child tested because she was soooo adamant about the milk thing and it not being her fault for over serving.

Turns out the child doesn't have anything other than a liquid problem. ( mom!!)

RAST (?) testing came back inconclusive with possible intolerance that will more than likely pass as the child ages.

I handle it by making mom bring me plastic pants to wear over the child's diaper for naps (usually when worst explosions happened) and the agreement that 2 leaked diapers meant a call to pick up.

Mom now brings plastic pants AND a zippered paid of pajamas that I put the child in for nap time (gone through 2 PNP's already ).

Mom makes a HUGE deal out of not wanting me to serve dairy but then makes comments like, "Sorry if 'K' has runny poo today, we went to Dairy Queen last night."

When I KNOW that, I call for first runny poo and don't bother to wait for the second.

This DCM actually had the nerve to tell me that it was because she fed him so healthfully at home. All the fresh food was what was doing it. ::

Way to compliment yourself and be crazy incorrect all at the same time.

I offer use of my Amazon Prime membership to all of my clients-I find the cheapest diaper prices there every time, plus they are shipped free-If I find a deal on an "open" box-I'll text a mom and ask if she wants me to buy them for her. I get that diapers are expensive, and figure that if I offer to help solve the problem, they are less likely to resist going up a size. I know that I AM picky, but I put right in my contract that I prefer Pampers diapers in my daycare, but Huggies are fine, too. If they MUST use a store brand diaper, I prefer the Target ones. I let them know that I have not had good experiences with brands like Luvs, and that I don't want to deal with the messes from cheap diapers, because it can contaminate my furniture, carpet, toys, etc. I have not yet had a parent have a negative comment about it, and I am happy that messes are nearly always contained.

If it is spreading to furnishings you have to scrub, I wouldn't tolerate it. So DCM doesn't want to spend money, so you have to do extra work ? NO WAY ! I would re-explain the situation to her, emphasizing that you are having to scrub things clean. If she still won't move him up a size, let her know (nicely) that she will need to pay for professional cleaning or to replace the items.
