We have a generator, but that happened two winters ago here and was HORRIBLE, out for several days.

I hope it comes back on asap!

Oh, that stinks! We had an ice storm a few years back and went without power for 8 days. There had been some really good sales on meats and frozen foods during the weeks prior to the store so we had been stocking up. We were so happy thinking about all the money we were saving! We lost everything in the fridge and two freezers. So much for saving money! I'm sorry it happened to you. I know how upsetting it can be.

My insurance policy covers food loss 100% so you might want to check yours.

Thanks everyone! The power had come back at 2am, so I only lost stuff in the fridge, not the freezer thanks goodness . I told my husband "at least we have electricity in the first place!" but we are not in a good financial position to deal with losing that food. Oh well, PBJs and mac n cheese are always a favorite, they will be OK with some cheaper meals for just a little while.
