do you do treat bags for your kids? what do you include? so far we've got noisemakers, m&ms, dumdums, straw cups, and glow in the dark spiders.

    • Dried apricots
    • Banana chips
    • Pretzels
    • Yogurt covered raisins
    • Dried pineapple tidbits
    • Sesame sticks
    • Roasted pumpkin seeds.

My DCK's LOVE any kind of dried fruits...they would choose it over candy.

Which is good because I refuse to participate in handing out candy to kids I know are going to be overloaded on it over Halloween anyways.

I try to stick with something sweet and yummy though.

I also toss in some fun things too, like mini bubbles, fake Dracula teeth, spider rings and pumpkin pencils...etc

My older daycare kids LOVE dried fruits also... And nuts.... Their favorite is the trail mix.. Not the junk with the chocolate but I do it home made... Almonds... Walnuts... Peanuts... Oatmeal...various dried fruits... I put them in single servings in those little snack ziplocks... That way if we are headed out the door to ball practice I grab a handful of those and toss them in my backpack.

      Rambling... Anyway...

For those 2 and over.... I do like you BC plus they'll all be trick or treating with me on Halloween. We have a small subdivision that has four blocks of houses... Two blocks does healthier type stuff... Ande other two does traditional candy... Kind of like a small block party thing. We go for 30 minutes and walk the four blocks. All done andthey get a mix of healthy and junky .

I'm not sure what to do about my special dcg. She LOVES bubbles. She can have ****ers but that's really the only thing by mouth she gets and that's very rarely. So I'm thinking bubbles for her... Anyone have other ideas for a child that's basically nothing by mouth which knocks out healthy alternatives also.

She just learned to color a few months ago (she has deformities to her hands) .. I was thinking some coloring stuff. She doesn't have any at home other than what I've sent home with her.

Have you thought about pureeing fruits/veggies and making your own lipops for her?

They sell lipop sticks (and pans for them too) but I would think an ice cube tray would work too. ANTHING yummy could be pureed, frozen with a stick on it and then given to her as a treat, just like all the other kiddos.

I bought Halloween themed Crayola crayons, markers, Halloween stampers, goldfish cracker packs, and mini playdoh.

          No candy in mine.

That's a thought. Ill call her nutritionist and ask if that's okay. Do you know as it melts it may have too much consistency or substance to it. We ARE working in a feeding program with her somewhat.... Nothing full time because she STILL hasn't gotten into an ei program and there is a waiting list for a feeding therapy clinic.

Rambling again..we have managed to get her over a huge part of her oral aversion issues... Two issues... Big ones remain... She never learned to swallow very well... Working in that...and she has a HUGE gag reflex issue if ANYTHING of substance gets into the back of her throat. There is a minor aspiration risk, not so much with what she eats in purpose but with stomach acid coming back up and down into her lungs, despite two reflux wraps.

We are sort of allowed to give her things... She mostly refuses to take much from mom... But we ARE allowed to give her stage one baby food if she will take it.. Some days I only get a spoon actually down into her tummy... This is a year long process and its baby steps...

Long story... If I freeze like purees... When they thaw out, I wonder if she'd break chunks off... I'm going to check out that idea... It's a great one and she loves ****ers....thanks for that idea!! She also loves Popsicles... Although most lands on her.

I would think the consistency of the frozen purée would be great feeding therapy!!

              Yes, we do!

I usually put in bubbles, fake teeth, a glow stick necklace for trick or treating, an apple and a Halloween cookie. They also got a Halloween book last year.

                Off topic a little..

I was thinking of making oreo truffles and dipping them in white chocolate and then painting those to look like eyeballs. Too gross? It wouldn't be for the dcks, it would be for another Halloween party!

i found foam glow sticks with led lights in them at the dollar store. decided that would be safer than glow sticks and they're reusable.

I don't give out candy to the dck's. Our goody bags this year have a bat, a spider, an eyeBALL, glow sticks, and I think that's it.

Dum dums can be very dangerous and I won't even give them to my own kids. Someone I know had a neighbor's child pass away from choking on one when the whole ****er came off.
