Should I Be Upset? Should I Say Anything

today one of my dcb was not feeling so hot. He did not eat at breakfast or snack and was laid down at 1130am just saying he was tired. We were having a laid back day, so I said ok. He didn't look like he felt good, but it could have been a late night too, so I wrote it off.

I email the dcp to let them know of this and that I took temp no fever. maybe just tired. the child does hardly eat at times. The parents both responded ok, thanks for the heads up.

well hours later around 330 I have to wake him up. Of course he has a fever now. its 101.3. I call parents, no answer, I send text no answer, I send email. The boy usually gets picked up at 445pm, but neither parent has contacted me back. This is what I am upset about, should I be? Would you say something to them about not calling back at all even though pick up was only a little over an hour away????

    Thanks

I would've been upset and would mention it to them.

I would be upset unless they had some compelling reason why they didn't answer. You might tell them that if it happens again you would call someone on their pick up list to come get him.

Poor little guy! I would be upset and I would say something. Assuming you don't call or text them at work for minor issues, they need to understand that when you do try to contact them, it's important and they need to respond right away.

No I don't. I dont call or say much to parents unless its really necessary. DCM just finally called me..... I did tell them that it's very hard to keep the child separated for 2 hours from the rest of the group. It's hard on me and on the child. I then reminded them that per our policy that there is a $1.00 per min charge for every min they are late past one-hour from the time I called. But I would let it slide this time, not the next. I am also not feeling too well, so I just wanted to be done for the day.....I didn't really want to argue with anyone...

I have it in my contract that parents MUST be reachable at ANY time their child is in care, or they must give me a name of somebody who WILL be available in their absence.
