Does it say anywhere (other than the mother's statement) how the child died? I mean it says blunt force trauma but it doesn't say that the provider hit him, dropped him or allowed someone else to hit him or if he was injured in another incident

Also the failure to take her license part confuses me... I would think that they weren't required to take her license until she was actually charged with something...

    She voluntarily surrendered her license.

Either way, it IS sad but it is just another example of how agencies are over worked and understaffed to manage the things that the state's lawmakers require in way of rules, regulations and support and follow through of those things.

This was local to me I used to work with his Aunt. It was so sad. I still see Justice for Trevor stickers on cars around town. I know a lot of people who think she was innocent, because they grew up in her care and so on and so forth. But after so many years he practices clearly swayed. And poor Trevor suffered because of it.

It was shaken baby syndrome apparently. Thats why there was so much confusion on when it happened. In her care or at home.

So have they actually proven that the provider DID it?

The autopsy report that was attached (although the words are tiny) I think said "blunt force trauma" which is not even close to shaken baby so I am confused...

Shaken baby scares me because it IS possible for it to happen at home and the child not die or have a reaction until later...leaving anyone WITH the child at that moment a suspect.

Yes, this was my thought as well. The report said blunt force trauma and I read a story where the mom was quoted that the provider "hit him repeatedly with something" but I did not see that mentioned anywhere else.

The child was absent from the daycare the day before. The provider reported him coming in that morning fussy and with a low appetite.

Obviously, we cant know every detail of the case and I'm sure they had something on her we don't know but those were the things that stuck out to me.

From what I remember (this happened years ago) it was shaken baby, which is why there was a debate on it and from what I understood, why they waited to take her license during investigation. The child died in her care and that's why so many people thought it happened at home. She was convicted and is serving time. This was long before I started my career and what I know about it I just remember hearing about working with his Aunt.

This is what I was thinking. It's part of the reason I don't take infants. The science on time of injury isn't great and when push comes to shove the provider is usually blamed before the parents.
