    Just Feel Like Quiting

i have a baby who is 4months...had since 6wks...she is the biggest loudest screamer ever when not held.....i have feed her, changed her, she hates the swing, wont play in the exersaucer, wont sleep, ARGHHH....i'm ready to pull my hair out. its every day ALL day with this kid. of course she doest do this at home cuz shes held at every whimper (first child)..i just cant do this anymore i have talked over and over w/the paretns and told them that what they do at home affects her greatly here. know what mom says? cant u just hold her? um NO...i have 4 other children and even if i didnt have any kids i wouldnt hold her all day....ppl like this should just not work and take care of their kids themselves. so she comes in this morning with a flipping carrier so i can 'wear' her all day....NOT happening! i told her this and she just shrugs it off ....so , i guess imma let her go before i loose my sanity

I do feel as if a 4 month old baby should not be held all of the time; and it does have consequences in a daycare situation b/c we as providers have lots of other kids to watch, and cannot be constantly holding a baby! I would certainly be frustrated too!
However, I'm going to play the devil's advocate here. "Baby wearing" is certainly a parenting style that has really taken off. And it sounds like dcp's have adopted this parenting style. I actually think it was kind of a nice gesture from mom to bring a carrier to help you. She didn't have to do that. It's hers, and she was letting you have it for daycare to try it out. I really don't think she had anything but your sanity in mind when she brought it. I would NOT have her in the carrier all day long, but maybe you could use it when you are ready to pull your hair out and just need to get things done. I really think it will help if it's only for one or two hours a day.
On the other hand, if you are not open to it at all; then I would say you may have grounds to term depending on your contract. For one, their parenting styles are totally different, and for two, dcg is not quite ready for a daycare environment yet.

I would talk to the parents one last time on this, and tell them, they need to change their ways at home, it is affecting everything here at daycare. Then give it a ending date, if nothing changes. I have gone thru this, and am still going thru this with one family, it ****s!!! I am about to tell mine the same thing as well. Good luck and let us know how it all goes!!

Just saying.....Those baby pouches are meant for PARENTS to carry around their babies not dcp!! If the parent feels so strongly that the baby should be held all day then she should quit work and do that. There is no way I would wear around someone else's baby while chasing around all of the rest of the ankle biters in this house::! I love caring for babies but that parent is asking too much. I bet she couldn't do our job for even one day....sorry to sound so grumpy!! I think I am trying to fight off a bug from one of my dck...but that is another thread!!

As a dc provider I've used the sling. (haven't had a baby in a LONG time though)
It keeps me sane and they worked with my kids and allowed me to get some things done.

I don't carry/wear all day long don't get me wrong.

I'm hoping to have a baby here in the spring and I will request that parents provide a sling.

Live and Learn said my exact thoughts. It was actually kind of weird to read, it was that precise. So in other words, what she said.

I have a sling for bitty babies, but aftr about 3 months they are not in them,... I allow lots of tummy and exploration time. I hold for feedings, and at various times through the day but they arent held all day long. I would never get anything done. I do put them either right beside me on the floor, or in the pnp for their safety.

Have you tried a bouncy seat? My babies love those ~ I have one that has soft music and vibration and it really seems to help sooth them. I don't even have a swing any longer because they love that seat so much. They can be on the floor in it and the other kids have a tendency to entertain them more than anything.
