I have received texts from people late or very early (DCPs) & realized at one point my signal was having issues so they may not have sent them that late. I know when I send picture texts sometimes the texts send within a min & sometimes they take 10-15 min. There are lots of reasons why you could have been sent the text so late. I have an AT & T phone but my carrier is not AT & T - I don't see the actual time the sender sent the msg, only the time I receive it.

I think I need to be more clearer
When I get a text before I even open it, it will say the current time. However when I go to read the text it will say the time that the text was sent- Flag

it may depend on the phone, not just the carrier, we all have iphones but my DD's will delay texts much more often than ours. It does end up showing the "real" time it was sent.
But regardless, I would believe this text was probably sent late at night when she was browsing the internet. A text is VERY different than an email and I would be pissed if my phone, which I keep right by my bed for emergencies, went off at 2am from a prospective client. I've gotten 6am phone calls from people at times and my answer at that time of morning is "I'm full" whether I am or not. I am not a center, this is a small home daycare and if you think I am available at midnight, 2am or 6am I am not the provider for you.- Flag

My phone shows the time text was sent, she left an email address that I did respond to Sunday afternoon, she has not replied, I keep my phone on for emergencies and I didn't want to reply at 2am I wanted to sleep.
Her area code was from VA, I'm in MI so unless care.com sends texts at 2am OR she just moved here it was a crap call.
Anyway, I am grumpy when I get awakened early. :: and she hasn't called back.
I see little people.- Flag

On a side note, I NEVER give my cell number to anyone until they are enrolled parents.
Anyone wanting to contact me regarding care/services goes through e-mail or my landline at daycare.
My cell is for CURRENT clients only.- Flag

She likely didn't think you would hear it in the middle of the night and assumed you would respond the next day as soon as you turned your phone on.
She may be really desperate for childcare as her previous provider may have left her without care on short notice.
I wouldn't dismiss her just based on that. I would meet her and her children first before making any decisions, especially if you need to fill your spots.- Flag

It probably was a scam and like pp's said, do you even have your number for the public to see on Care.com?
I have an ad on CL and I get emails all the time saying that people need care for a week and can they use my house and they need a housekeeper/nanny, stuff like that when my ad says exactly what age I can take in and for full time only. And wouldn't you know, whenever I email them back, no response is ever given. Absurd.- Flag

Update: reponse from
Okay ppl, this is the response I got back, WHAT do you think?
Hi Dear,
Am glad you wrote back so sorry it took me so long to get back to you been having internet problems, Am not sure how best to go about this nanny choosing, as you should understand that a child is not what you just leave in the care of anyone as there has to be trust and love as very good parent would give to a child. Will be nice to have a personally interview so as to create a concrete ground with the hope of all best expectations. I did lose my mom about a two weeks ago and only had her funeral some days back here in England and we should be back in states in a week from now, hence, we have been for a look out for a nanny even before the death of mom. It will be nice if we find one before we get back home and it happens to be you then we would be the happiest people as myself and my husband will be so occupied by work in the coming week and we just seek to have the best person to look over our child. We can kindly get on with all formal interview before we arrive back States.Thank you so much and i do hope for a better communication and look forward to having you as best of family and friends.
I have listed some questions from for you below as i was advised by the nanny site that these questions should be the basis for for us to make a choice of a good baby sitter.

How many children do you feel comfortable caring for?
What ages do you prefer?

What are your weaknesses/limitations?
What are your strengths?

How many people are in your family?

What jobs have you had in the past?
Have you been a past nanny ?where do you get a job?

I got this same kind of crap when I was looking for an apartment.
I wish they would leave people alone.- Flag

I get these sometimes- I never respond but I'm just curious what they can get from a provider? It's not like they are going to try to do the "wire money here and I'll pay it back" scheme. I've always been curious as to what they can get from these fake responses.- Flag

Scam. As soon as I saw "England" I would have been done. I would still say a note saying something like, I understand you dilemma, but I prefer sit down interviews.- Flag
