    2:00am Text

1:56 am to be exact, I get a text from someone that got my info from care.com needing childcare for two boys. Wants me to email her back ASAP with all of my details "so we can take things from there".

I'm so flabbergasted I haven't responded, don't know as I will. Early in the morning, on a Sunday, text instead of a phone call, etc...

Thought it was one of my kids having an emergency.
    I see little people.

Call me crazy, but I think I would have called her immediately. Yep, at 157 and said "Exactly who on earth do you think you are? Why are you texting me in the middle of the night? Whatever you want, the answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT."

    Unbelievable!

      Devil's advocate

I have Verizon. Sometimes, I'll send a text, the person won't get it when I sent, and they'll get it several hours later instead. Maybe she actually sent it earlier and it was delayed. I'd call her back and find out before dismissing her.

OR --- text her at about 6:30 am. Obviously she's a nite owl and probably goes to bed about 3am. I'm sure she'd LOVE to be woken up just a few hours later!

Personally, I'd be happy my ad was successful at reaching the people I want to reach.

I would've answered when I got up on Sunday.

I've gotten late night emails before from care.com, I'm always happy to get them.

          She could be working nights....

She may have just sent a text because she figured you were asleep and would read it when you wake up (my phone is always on vibrate) and since she seems to be in a rush she may be afraid you don't check your e-mails on weekends. I see texts more as a way to see if someone is busy before I call them. I don't think a text is that big of a deal, if it were an actual phone call at that time of night then I would be mad.

Though since she isn't an actual daycare parent, I would find that unprofessional that the first thing she does is text, at that time of night an E-mail would have made more sense and is more formal (i.e. grown up). In the future, I would put a side note on the care.com add to not text but to either call (and put your phone on "Do not disturb" mode at night) or to e-mail you. Just put "You can contact me by e-mail at *******@mail.com or call me at ###-#####. Please no texts, calls only"

I TOTALLY agree. I would have done the same thing!

It sometimes happens to me as well-I have AT&T. However it will still show the time that the text was originally sent. So even if I don't get a text until 5:11 am- it will show that it was sent at 8:42 p.m. the day before

Same thing happens to me. My husband's phone went crazy beeping one night, and he received several texts at once that I had sent over the past few days. I wouldn't have thought of this myself, but it does happen to texts I send quite often.

I wish! Verizon, mine shows as if it were "just sent". It's very irritating, to say the least. I've lost some important messages because I can ONLY text at work, not call, and people get mad when I KNOW I text them back and can prove on my side what time, but on their side, it shows something else.

I just want to warn you that I get those text from people saying they got my info on care.com as well. They are always "urgently in need of care" and always will ask for your resume, address, phone, and references right away. I do not even have my cell phone number associated with care.com, so I know it is a scam.

I would be careful with how you respond to these, and just make sure they are legit. I usually say "Please contact me through care.com, and I will happily discuss care options with you."

I'd be angry too. Its incredibly rude IMO. I don't think I need to keep my phone on silent or in bedside just so my DCPs or prospective DCPs can text whenever they feel like it, I'm not at their beck and call. That's what email it for.

I have ATT too and it shows when it was originally sent, not received. Even if sent from a Verizon texter but I guess Verizon doesn't work that way.

                          I think scammer or a rude person (AKA a DCP I don't want) :: Either way I wouldn't respond.

That stinks ... however, I'm going on the side of she sent the text earlier and it didn't come through until now. I also have AT&T, and it never shows me the actual time it was sent ... shows up as just now...

There are so many scams out there, you can't be too careful. Based on the timeline, it could be a person from another country, too. My friend was sent a similar message, and turned out to be a scammer in another part of the world sending out mass messages to daycare providers!
